Help Widgetlocker & widget issues after reboot.

You're changing permissions on an apk that's on your sdcard, and it's not keeping those permissions, or it's not keeping those permissions after you copy it somewhere? What are you changing the permissions to, and if you are copying it, where are you trying to copy it to?

I try to change the permissions on the sd card, and i go back to check the permissions, and they're the same as if i never changed them at all. Didnt bother moving it after that, since the changes didn't hold.

Also, thanks for all the help guys.

I signed the apk and it still didn't work, how do i DL it from the market without it installing?

I believe it has to do with the fact that the sdcard is formatted as fat32, which isn't a standard linux filesystem, hence the inability for it to understand permissions changes. It's either that, or it has some umask that it's being forced adhere to, but the former is much more likely. It's kind of the same reason why you must create an ext partition on the sdcard (and use a2sd) in order to make apps on the sdcard executable. Froyo's built-in apps2sd must work some other way. I think it keeps some portions in /data in order to execute it.

As far as the apk is concerned, you might be able to extract it from titanium backup, but there is no way to capture the apk from a market download. It's like that on purpose so that people don't steal. I assume what you tried to do was grab it out of /data/app?

yes, where shhould i grab it from? And should i reformat my sd card?

Hm, I'll have to look into how exactly you're supposed to do this. I'm sure I can find out the correct order of things. Until then, Mr. Ed, I think you might have a little more expertise in this area.

I think i got it to work, after deleting the files in dalvik cache, and data/apps and installing the signed version. Basically i have to uninstall and install it each time i want to mod it.
Maybe theres another way?

this may not be any help to you. but since you mentioned thing disappearing and maybe market issue and you on mikfroyo.

this fix is for market running slow, not starting a download or failing to download.

Go Settings > Applications > Manage Applications and click on the Running tab.
Click on Google Service Framework, Force Stop it, then Clear Data and Clear Cache.
Do the same for MikMarket, might have to find it under all.
reboot your phone and try the market again.

some people have reported disappearing app in the mikfroyo thread. only a select few. happened to me on my first flash of it. i used clockwork, switched over to RA and no issues at all.

so just out of curiosity what recovery did you use?

Yes...each time you mod widgetlocker the old version must be uninstalled...new modded one installed. If you have issues and need an apk YOU PAID for let me know. I will help you get it. For anyone reading or stumbling upon this....I dont encourage anyone to ask me how to get paid apps for free..

I pay for my apps, without paying for them, developers get less money, leading to less developers, which in turn leads to less cool stuff for me to mess with
