WidgetLocker with Stock Sense

Does anybody have any experience using WidgetLocker with a stock, unrooted HTC Desire? I'm curious about whether there are two lock screens(HTC and WidgetLocker) or just the one with WidgetLocker?

Thanks!!

you get the same thing, rooted or not..

you can turn the 'stock' or 'htc' lockscreens off and just use widget locker...BUT the only thing you will have is the '5 second rule' most times where it can take up to 5 seconds to go to the homescreen after unlock..

this is because of how android deals with its own lockscreen..there is an option to bypass the rule...but it works better when rooted..

but as to your original question...you can just turn off the default lockscreen in the widget locker options.

I almost never get the 5 second rule message with stock lockscreen off.

Well off, actually I have disabled sliders and activated trackball wake (Cyanogen custom rom settings).

I thought the 5 second rule was if you unlock it is delayed 5 seconds if you had just pressed "home" before unlocking.

eg

Press home
Immediately lock
Immediately unlock
Ooops you pressed "home" less than 5 seconds ago...

Widgetlocker never successfully turned off my default lockscreen and always got a flash of the stock lockscreen. The option I have now is much better for me.

I stopped using WL for a while due to the fact the stock lockscreen still appeared. It was very annoying.

WidgetLocker didn't work 100% for me either. I use Lockbot Pro, that works fine, the only time i see the default lock screen is when i power up in the morning, or i'm plugged into a PC.

For those that get the original lockscreen, even when using an app, i found using NoLock app worked in removing the default lockscreen.

There is a 5 second rule, but it isn't what you are saying here. You'll scare people away from WL if they think it will take 5 seconds to unlock the phone!!!!

What is the "WLocker Helper" and why should I set it to my default home?
Android has a "5 second rule" that prevents a background process (WidgetLocker) from activating within 5 seconds of the Home Button being pressed. This is very bad for WidgetLocker as you might exit an application with the Home Button, turn off the screen, then quickly turn it back on to check something in your Widget, but WidgetLocker must continue to wait 5 seconds until it can appear.
To work around you can set "WLocker Helper" as your default Home. This means the Home Button goes to the Helper, who forwards it to your actual Launcher. But in the process the "5 second rule" is defeated and WidgetLocker can instantly activate.
Another feature of "WLocker Helper" is that it allows disabling the Home Button at the lockscreen. This button cannot normally be caught by an application.

If you ever wish to change your setup you can go to WidgetLocker's settings. Here you can change the "Home Application" that WLocker Helper calls, or you can "Clear Default Home" if you wish to assign a different default to the button.

So, the 5 second rule only applies if you hit HOME + Off + On all within 5 seconds.

Yes I made a mistake, Dan corrected the mistake..end of...no need to go a lil overboard with your exclamations marks lol

Dan said he "thought" the 5 second rule was that.

I copied the information from the WL website to confirm. I didn't want others to avoid using Widget Locker because of your post.

If you turn off the default HTC/Android lockscreens there's no way to password/pattern/PIN protect your phone using widget locker is there?

I can't see the option anyway.. seems like you have to choose between glitchiness (two lockscreens) and security.

I use the pattern lock after WL when I'm out and about, with a similar setup to SUroot. But like him I'm not using stock. You could just try it - set up with just WL and then enable the pattern in the security menu.

I say pattern because if I use PIN or password I do get the android lockscreen after WL. This seems to be an android feature - you can have pattern without lockscreen but not the other two.
