Does anybody have any experience using WidgetLocker with a stock, unrooted HTC Desire? I'm curious about whether there are two lock screens(HTC and WidgetLocker) or just the one with WidgetLocker?
Thanks!!
an your right bout the 5 second ruleBUT the only thing you will have is the '5 second rule' most times where it can take up to 5 seconds to go to the homescreen after unlock..
What is the "WLocker Helper" and why should I set it to my default home?
Android has a "5 second rule" that prevents a background process (WidgetLocker) from activating within 5 seconds of the Home Button being pressed. This is very bad for WidgetLocker as you might exit an application with the Home Button, turn off the screen, then quickly turn it back on to check something in your Widget, but WidgetLocker must continue to wait 5 seconds until it can appear.
To work around you can set "WLocker Helper" as your default Home. This means the Home Button goes to the Helper, who forwards it to your actual Launcher. But in the process the "5 second rule" is defeated and WidgetLocker can instantly activate.
Another feature of "WLocker Helper" is that it allows disabling the Home Button at the lockscreen. This button cannot normally be caught by an application.
If you ever wish to change your setup you can go to WidgetLocker's settings. Here you can change the "Home Application" that WLocker Helper calls, or you can "Clear Default Home" if you wish to assign a different default to the button.
There is a 5 second rule, but it isn't what you are saying here. You'll scare people away from WL if they think it will take 5 seconds to unlock the phone!!!!
