Root Wife finally wants her phone rooted

So my wife wants her phone rooted. She is still on 2.2 and has never updated her phone. Is everyone still using unrevoked? Or are you using something else?

yeah that's what I thought. I am running the same rom as you, and she wants that one. Man her phone acts like a dinosaur compared to mine.:)

really happy with this rom... been running for the past week without any issues.... except for the voice to text, but that seems to be working fine now with 2.41... great dev work...

Ha. My wife was actually on board with rooting her Sprint HTC EVO 4G before we even purchased it for her last week. :)

I sung the praises of rooting and being able to tweak everything pretty heavily and it won her over. Ironically, her handset cannot be rooted yet because it is on Android 2.3 right now. :D

yeah got lucky because she never updated her phone ever. She sees all the cool stuff that I can do with my phone, and now she wants that too.:D

That is the exact reason why my wife wanted an Android handset. She saw me doing all this neat stuff with my Sprint HTC Hero and got jealous. :D

She knows that I am well practiced on the rooting scene, so she trusts I will not blow up her handset when rooting becomes possible on Android 2.3.3. It will be a grand old time. ;)

yeah I bet people cant wait to get rooted on gingerbread. just trying to find the perfect rom for her. need a good one and a theme that has a lot of purple in it.

There are alot of mods for MikG that change the colors. Themes, Lock ring mods, themed keyboards.....check out themikmik.com for the latest.

I have mikg 2.3 on my phone. I tried the 2.41 but it was missing some stuff like the market. But I will try it on her phone.:)

so do you just flash the theme just like you do the rom? just have never done the theme thingy... downloading now.

best thing to do is make a nandroid first of the rom without thte theme. then wipe dalvik cache and cache and flash away. if you do not like the rom you can just restore the previous nandroid and start over with a different theme.

i just got my wife the epic a few weeks ago and she's itching for me to root it. my wife is all about the purple too. i find it interesting that all the phones have dif ways to root. now i get to learn a lil more. :)

yeah my wife and I both had the epic. nice screen and all but man the evo is a beast when it comes to durability and the amount of support that you get. especially from the boys on this forum:D:D

yea the epic's screen is nice but not my kinda phone. she takes good care of her phones so i think she'll be alright. im hooked on my evo and the support on the epic forum is no where near what the evo forum is. ive gotten a lot of help here and boy did i need it lol

My wife had an Epic that I rooted then unrooted and switched to the Evo before her 30 days were up. Not sure if things have changed, but the roms for the Epic were not nearly what the Evo ones are. She had alot of issues with the phone freezing and text problems. She got it originally because she wanted the physical keyboard, but she never used it(not once that I saw) so she went to the Evo and has been happy with it. Another thing she hated was the battery life on it. She was charging her phone 3 times a day(kind of a heavy user). With the Evo it goes most of the day then needs charged around dinner time most days.

yeah i noticed the same things xtreme. she wanted the physical keyboard and but she actually uses it and the battery life is the worst ive ever seen but she likes the phone so more power to her. i had to look around for awhile to find a decent rom for her. i love my evo, she has no clue what she's missing :D

yeah, I never used my slide out keyboard either. She used her's so much that it broke the side off of the phone. took it in to the sprint store and they put a whole new screen and body on it for $35 bucks. And the guy that did it showed me some ROMS to put on her phone.:) never did though she switched to the evo.

While I was putting Froyo on my wife's Epic, she was using mine and commented how she liked it.....she used her Epic for a couple of weeks then decided that the Evo was a better phone for her since she wasn't using the keyboard anyway and I was getting almost 2 days out of my phone with CM7 and Tiamat on it. :)
