Thanks. I updated from stock kg2 to kk2 so does that mean my modem is the latest or should I update it to KI4 as it is the newest?Yep the modem is in your baseband (after I9100). For Bell Canada, the stock modem starts with MUG.
The modem manages the wireless comms features like wi-fi and 3G/HSDPA. If you want to get a new modem for Bell, I suggest you check out this thread.
Sorry I meant should I download the KI4 modem while i have the kk2 firmware? I assume I still have the Kg2 modem as bell is still on 2.3.3 and not 2.3.6Well, KK2 is newer than KI4 but a lot of people have found KI4 quicker and more stable. Personally I haven't noticed a difference.
So my suggestion is stick with KK2 unless you're having problems with it.
Thanks. I'm trying it out now.
edit: WOW! My download rate went from 4664 kbps to 11925kbps. Everything is looking good so far. Signal seems stronger.
how can we find out what the latest modems are for Bell?
My ROM is using KI4 and I notice that i go from HSPA+ to 3G quite often...
Unless Bell operates on non-standard GSM bands, any of the modems should work.
You'll only see H(+) when a data transfer is active. If the connection is idle it will drop back to 3G, so it's quite normal to see it switch to and fro as background sync etc goes on.
I'd assume that your current baseband is also KI4, matching the firmware build. I've found the KL1 modem slightly faster over 3G and a huge improvement over wifi.
