Help Wifi connection problem with two simcards

Hi all,

Very frustrating phone problem, help and advice needed please!

I'm using a UK HTC Desire, in Australia, with two different simcards - 02 (a UK sim) and Crazy Johns (an Australian sim). No problems for a month, and as of last night, my phone now only registers and connects to my home wifi with my 02 sim - not the Australian/Crazy Johns sim. The Aus sim is picking up every other wifi signal around, like neighbours, coffee shops etc but is getting no signal at all from only my home wifi. However, when I change sims to my UK one, my home wifi connects immediately and is fine. And this problem's only just occured overnight - a month previous to that, both were fine.

I've tried forgetting the network; restarting my router a few times; and HTC customer service don't know what's wrong as clearly there's no problem with the phone as it's connecting with one sim, just not the one I'd prefer to use.

Very weird problem but any advice would be brilliant, thanks in advance.

David

thats really weird ... however i dont think that there is any link between sim and wifi .... well whats happening is really weird

well try 3 rd sim .....:)

or the last option is factory reset... backing up your data!!!!!

its weird really

could be an issue to do with the ip address assigned to the phone. Im not sure, but maybe the sim as something to do with how the phone is registered on the network. It might be assigning the phone with the not working sim to an ip address that is taken by another device (your pc)..

Thanks guys - I suspected it might be something IP adress-related. What can I do about that? Will a factory reset make any difference in that case, or even like the man says just getting a third sim and trying my luck!

If I didn't have such a shambolic broadbrand provider I'd ring them and try and get them to reset the channels but I suspect that might kill my internet completely. Any solutions much appreciated.

if there is a chance what lekky is saying than make sure that you turn mobile data of when using wifii

or try wifii in AIRPLANE MODE(with both sim)..... that make sure it has nothing to do with sim...

try them and do please post your results...

hope this helps.....waiting eagerly for your reply ;)

Amazing - mobile data is off, and my wifi worked in Airplane Mode with BOTH sim cards, but only when I left the phone in Airplane Mode, switched sims, and turned phone on again with the Australian sim in but the phone still in Airplane Mode. As soon as I turned Airplane Mode off with the Australian sim and got a phone signal, my wifi signal has gone - and won't come back on, whether I put it back in Airline Mode or not... What does that mean!

well one thing you can do go to htc care center and tell them your wifii is not working .. do not let them know that it is working with your uk sim.... ok

A week to the day of the problem starting, and my wi-fi is working again. Guess the problem may have been a temporary IP address conflict, but it's sorted itself out now - many thanks to Amit & Lekky for the assistance, let's hope it doesn't happen again!
