Help WiFi Connectivity Issue and Possible Solution

So, out of nowhere last night I couldn't connect to my home WiFi. After an hour of struggling, trying to manually set my WiFi as static, I downloaded "static WiFi" from the Play Store. Worked like a charm. I set the connection to static from the app, turned off WiFi, rebooted the phone and then turned WiFi back on and it worked like a charm. I do, however, get an error message when connecting to any WiFi since using WiFi static, but it will connect regardless.

I'm not sure if it's a software bug, which I have heard there are issues, or if it has to do with a security setting on my home WiFi. My Galaxy S did the same thing on my folks' WiFi last year.

Any other solutions or advice would be appreciated. :)

On previous devices I have had a similar issue (not with the One S though) and it was usually solved by resetting the router. Not sure if that will help with your issue or not.

I also can't get on my schools wifi, it requires http log in on the browser but my HOS won't load the log in page

My work's wifi requires http log in and works fine, I have to 'provoke' the connection (ie I search for anything in Google)

yeah, I tried that in 4 different browsers and even cleared cache and rebooted the phone... no luck. My old P.O.S. Galaxy Indulge connects no problem?

Maybe the software update next week fixes it.
