Wifi doesnt work

Vague title i know, but it pretty much sums up my problem. At home, our family wifi network doesnt work on any of our phones in the house. So there's the wifi network under all the available connections and it says 'secured with WPA2 (WPS avaliable)' and whenever we try to connect to it it says 'authentication error' for all the phones in our house. Any idea how to fix this?

Is this a new problem, or has it never worked on any of your phones? Have you confirmed that the correct Wifi password has been entered on each device? Keep in mind that it is case-sensitive.

Sounds spot on to me, double check that you are entering the right password. If you have internet on your pc's there is no valid reason it won't work for the phones.

I would change the password but i have no idea how to do so. And since my dad changed the wifi network from Open to WPA2-Personal (he changed it because all the neighbours were using our wifi) we never got it to work on any of our devices. The code we enter for our wifi is the code under our router titled 'wpspin' (53311849). My dad's certain that this is our wifi code but still it didnt work for any of our devices.

That sounds like it is the WPS PIN as opposed to the WPA2 passphrase. They are two different things.

Hmm so where can i find my WPA2 passphrase?

That would have been configured by your dad when he enabled WPA2.

Depending on the router, you may be able to get into its management console by using the WPS PIN, and you could then reset the WPA2 passphrase.

When in doubt call the company and explain your plight, maybe they can change the password from their end and just give you the new one?

There will be a WPS button somewhere on the wireless router, probably hidden on the back plate either between two of the LAN ports or under the Power switch from experience. :(

Push/press/poke this button, then on your Android phone(s) go to Settings/Wifi/Menu and select WPS PIN Entry. Input the above number string and, all being well, your device will connect to and configure itself for the WLAN automagically.

The above may not work, with the WPS scan simply timing out. If this happens try again but don't push the WPS button until after entering the PIN on the client device.

If you can't get WPS to work then the only option, in the absence of a known password, is to reset the router and reconfigure it from scratch I'm afraid.

Some of the routers wps buttons Dont work . the problem you having is that your router is only broadcasting on one speed you need to set to compatible mode which router you have actiontec or netgear

@codesplice Knowing my dad he forgot that code. My router is a Nexxt router, can these reset the WPA2 passphrase?

@hiredgun We tried but unfortunately they only provide internet not passwords.

@Slug Ok i found the WPS button, clicked it, went to the menu and selected WPS Entry, and after this a random number came up, where do i enter this number? I tried it on my mom's laptop where we change our wifi settings by right clicking on our wifi network, selected properties and under WPA2-Personal i entered it in a space saying 'Network Security Key' but im not sure if this was the correct way to do it since it didnt work. x_x

EDIT: Here's a pic of all the drop down options on our wifi network im not sure which we should be using though.

You don't; I made the cardinal error of giving instructions based on how I did it rather than checking that your situation is similar... it isn't. :o

Here's a screen grab of my Settings/Wifi page:

After activating WPS on the router you would press the WPS icon on the Android device (circled in red). This will then pop up an option to enter the WPS PIN, 53311849, which authorises access.

My apologies for confusing you.
