Root Wifi Dropout Problem Persists: Someone, Please Help!

And i've actually found a solution that works for me with memory nowadays. Download ROMS without A2SD, and download an app in the market called S2E? Don't know how it works, but it installs some script and apps take up way less space than on the likes of GV. For example, currently I have 84 apps and 101mb free. It's awesome :)
If you think that 84 apps with 101MB free is impressive, then look what I've got. :D
A combination of Alpharev Bravo Sense table with App2SD.

I know, the whole thing is very weird. But I'm just glad after months of this annoying problem, I can now flash any ROM I want.

Thanks everyone that helped :)

Absolutely loving CM7 at the moment, and all the tweaks it brings. Might even go back to GV for a bit now this is fixed. Loved GV when I used it, but couldn't cope with the wifi.

How are you enjoying Redux SU? What does it offer that other GB rom's dont?

ManU1.4 is real solid with Cyanogen.

Have you got a direct link so i can also download this fix?

What are we doing?

It's a contest "Who's got the largest"... :D

Yes but you all cheat. I'm taking about using A2SD on a normal desire. You will obviously triump over mine with alpharev partitions! Impressive I admit, my point was that for standard A2SD with an unmodified system partition internal memory thingy, S2E gives surprising good results in comparison to others.

PS: I'm intrigued now....

-Is alpharev tricky to do?
-Does it require S-OFF?
-Does it limit the ROMS you can use... e.g could I still use CM7?

I'm one of those who likes to keep a lot of apps on my desire, even if I don't use them all very often. I don't usually fill my current memory, but 300 would be a perfect amount. I think 300 would be about the right amount for me to be completely happy with it and say memory problems of the desire fixed :)

Maybe, but the reason he wanted to try vork's was the others hadn't worked for me, and vork's had. The others may be brilliant, but he isn't asking for a brilliant kernal. He's asking for one that solves this wifi problem :P

I haven't got an alpharev partition or an ext partition.

But yes anything to do with NAND partitioning involves being s-off

Alpharev just allow you to flash one of their partition layouts in fastboot. Its just a new layout for hboot.

So what do you have?

Flash the partition like a ROM? As easy as that?

And, does the smaller system internal memory mean I can only use the smaller ROMS?

Custom mtd in Sig.

No flash via fastboot not recovery. Android flasher easiest. And yes the smaller your system, the more limited your rom choices

Or if you are on CM7, then why not to use the Alpharev CM7 Hboot table? Seems to me perfect for that ROM in combination with S2E.

Don't use the Alpharev CM7 MTD table, it sets the cache to 5Mb. Ridiculous!
Doesnt cm have the 06mountdl script that uses data for cache if cache is too small?

Redux has this and it can be transfered to any Rom. My cache is 3MB. Not come across any issues at all

I tried the kernal you suggested (havs-axi-cfs gingerbread version).

Thanks for your (and everyone else) help so far.

Unfortunately, it seems to have made no difference. Still getting wifi dropouts frequently.

Seeing as no one else seems to have this issue, I'm increasingly thinking its my router. But why then would it work perfectly on some roms? I don't get it.

I have the same issue mate. Posted some quetions on XDA, no luck with responses.

I tested 2 roms, Gingervillain and oxygen, both have the same issue. I never had this issue on froyo rom (leedroid 2.3) or stock

ah i see you have found a solution. Any idea what kernal i should use if i am running Oxygen 2.1?

What do you mean should use? As in which would I recommend as a good addition for oxygen in general, or which do I recommend to fix this wifi problem on oxygen?

It should, as I see the script in it.
I'll try soon CM7 to test this theory.

I have never used the table, but I read the tiny cache was connected to market download issues.

Yes it is, but the script I mention, that Usta confirms is in CM7 looks at the size of /cache. If /cache is too small for the market download, it uses /data instead.

I have a 3MB cache partition and have downloaded "cordy" which is 27MB. Basically this script makes it a non-issue.

So Alpharev aren't silly billy's after all.

To my knowledge, they do not promote this script. I believe this is a fix by the dev community to make up for their silly billy-ness.

That said, many things would not be possible without alpharev so hats off to em!
