Wifi hospot poll: Are you getting it free?

I get a error 67 message when i turn mine on, not in a 4g area though

Same here...no root - no luck

I can however tether my laptop via usb and easy tether when needed

The 4g wifi hotspot option is wide open. It does not work for 3g, I think it will be awhile before they will ever be able to close it..

4g is only data, so when they enable data on the 3g side which the have to do, 4g becomes accessible..

Me too...Every day around 5:20pm it asked me to update i just click cancel and go about my business...If they made Unrevoked3 as easy as the earlier verson i would update and re-root but all i want root for is for the wifi tethering so im not to concerned plus i had no issues with my current software version

I used the original Unrevoked too for awhile, just so I could tether. Waited for the next Unrevoked before I took the OTA update. Yesterday I installed Unrevoked3 following this guy's instructions:

...and now I'm rooted again! It is a little more work, but I have my tether back. I'm not messing with the custom ROM stuff either.

I thought there was a trial period as well, but the hotspot errored out, and turning it on required a phone call to CS and and I got an explicit CS statement to me that 1) there is no trial and 2) it's $29 a month and yes you can turn it on and off.

I was staying at a hotel charging $15 a day for internet so it was cost effective to turn it on, I saved $45 over the course of my stay over paying the hotel.

Haven't tried to root, but prefer free to $29.

I'll be using it on my road trip from Maryland to Florida in a few weeks. It's gonna be awesome with people driving down the road on their laptops and stuff. I'm pretty excited. Well worth the 30 bucks.
