Root WIFI on Gingerbread

OK thought that my wifi was working, but I see now that it is not. I have used Kouma's .# kernels but went to bootlooping with both. But,New Optimus' worked well for my A2SD needs. But still left with the dilemma of not being able to tether in infrastructure or AdHoc modes. Tethering is a must for me so any help or ideas would be appreciated.

Mine is using the prerooted copy and it works just fine, just a GIANT PITA to get SU updated the first time but now that I figured it out its no big deal. Other than that everything works much better.
