Actually, Apple's iPad2 stole ALOT of the Xoom's thunder and sales. These other companies CANNOT compete with Apple. Apple holds an event and within 10 days they have their products on store shelves with pricing. Love them or hate them, Apple KNOWS what they are doing. There is a reason they are profitable and own the Tablet and PMP market. Moto is tight lipped about their WiFi only unit (release and pricing). HP, they have NO idea when they are going to launch their DOA TouchPad. This is ridiculous. One of these Honeycomb manufacturers HAS to get a Tablet out at $499. I don't care about the specs (as the majority of the tablet buying population does not as well). Apple products just work. They don't promise things (4G, USB, MicroSD, Flash) and then MAKE YOU WAIT FOR THOSE THINGS TO WORK.
I went last Thursday to buy a Xoom at BestBuy. I had Xoom in hand (with case) and was standing behind someone else who was paying for his. I saw the register and it said $1050 (Xoom, Case, Dock, Activation, Data and Taxes) and he put it on his BestBuy card. I said EFF That. I put it back, purchased a Nook Color and Case for $315, came home and had Honeycomb and Marketplace/Google Apps up and running in 2 hours (I did not have Android SDK or Java Platform or anything prior to this, started from scratch). I put this on a 8GB Class 6 Micro SDCard (overclocked to 1GHZ) that I had laying around. Now I can do darn near anything that Xoom owners can do at a fraction of the price. I also have 8GB Froyo SDCrad as well (they both have dual boot capabilities). I could not be happier.
Moto better get their Crap together and quickly or else the Xoom will be DOA come next Friday (Mar 11). If Moto decided to sell a WiFi only Xoom for $499 within the next couple of weeks, I would take back the Nook Color and purchase the Xoom. Tick Tock Moto, Tick Tock. I don't think they can afford to continually lose potential customers.
