Welcome to the site! However, you are asking about a Samsung phone in a Motorola section, so I will ask this thread be moved to the proper section so that you may get more help.

Welcome to the AndroidForums, Mishwha!

I don't have a proper answer for you, but I'm trying to figure-out the proper forum to move your thread to where you'll get the best answer (there doesn't seem to be a proper SGS2 Sprint area here--I'll be back when I've found a good home for your issue).

Cheers and glad you signed-up :).

Okay, looks like this is the right home for you, Mishwha!

I trust that the fine folks in here will try their best to help you out.

Thanks and cheers!

Is your phone a Samsung Galaxy SII Epic 4G Touch?

I know there are differences between the Galaxy SII and the epic 4G touch so need to know if Scary Alien chose the right area first edit:but, looking at the forums here they are linked to one another so maybe no difference in the sprint versions....

If you phone is the Galaxy SII Epic 4G Touch what kernel version where you on and how did you root? Links if possible for what root you used.

It has been a while since I had a stock rooted ROM, but if I remember correctly tether apps won't work. There are stock ROMs with the only difference being that tether will work (including a hack to use the built in hotspot function).

How did you install the wifi hack? I managed to root with EL29, preserving my apps & data. No joy with wifi tether. (Tried 3.11) I'd prefer the native app if I can get the hack to work. Haven't installed the CWM yet 'cause again, didn't want to wipe data.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

Went back up and tried the 2.0.7 ver of wifi tether. Results were the same. I can establish an ad hoc connection, but w/o internet access.

I am currently using the 3.1 beta 6 version...I went to the website from my phone and installed the APK...device profile is set to AUTO, Wifi decryption isnt working , and i enabled Access-Control...I downloaded several versions, and this was the only one that worked for me...good luck..oh btw make sure that on your phone...under settings, and applications, you have unknown sources selected, prior to installing the apk

I know that the Sprint wifi hack is on XDA somewhere, I will double check and see if i can find the link. I am running a ROM that had it included...
