Root wifi tether not working

I'm using CyanogenMod 7.0.3.1 supersonic

This issue started when I flashed a new kernel.

My current kernel is 2.6.38.8 tiamat_evolution something something

When u try to turn in wifi tether it says "started with error please check show log" activation failed.

I'm using Open Garden but the same occurred with WifiTether

Please help if u can! Thanks in advance

which version of tiamat do you have? the most current one is 4.0.5 and anything 4 and up will have 2.6.38.8 which is part of an experimental code for aosp. try the 4.0.4 or 4.0.5 they have the updated wifi drivers.

yeah tiamat 4.04 is great for battery life and works great with cm7 overall
 
well that is the most current one. if you want a different one checkout the rom/kernel sticky. there is a list of current kernels as well as roms. as far as your issue that is weird have you tried your nandroid backup from before you flashed the kernel? maybe try wiping dalvik cache and cache. if that did not work then maybe re-flash the kernel.
