WiFi Tether, One-Click Root problems

IowaTower

I assume it's because of the update, but I can't be sure.

WiFi tether no longer works. It opens and when I turn on WiFi, it gives random errors and doesn't do anything; everything else seems to work fine. My laptop died a couple weeks back, so I don't know if WiFi Tether problem is because of the update or a seperate issue.

I thought maybe the update de-rooted the phone, so I d/l One-Click Root to try again, but I ran into another problem. When I select Debug, it knocks the phone off USB storage mode - Debug mode off, phone shows up as Drive G: via USB cable; Debug mode on, Drive G disappears.

My normal SOP would be to futz with the phone until I bricked it, but I figured I try asking the experts first. Any suggestions?

If you did the update OTA (over the air) then yea, it un rooted you phone. The one clock will not work if this is the case, you will need to use Odin to install the pre-rooted version thanks to Kouma. It will fix ya right up.

Did it work after you re-rooted your phone ??

Like LVincent said , updates from Boost un-root phones . If you see an update from Boost besides the PRL and profile updating , check in the Odin thread before installing it because there is probably already a rooted version made . If not , there will be one shortly I'm sure . ;)

This last round of update really screwed up a lot of phones . I don't know what those people were thinking sending out an update that wasn't thoroughly tested yet .

I didn't do the update but I can no longer tether. Any suggestions? I uninstalled and installed different tether apps but nothing seems to be working.

Do you have a CWM backup you can install ? That's what I would try first . You also could try flashing one of the ROM's in the forum like CTMod 3.2 or CM7 . If that doesn't work , you can use Odin to fix it . You have several options as to what version you want to install . If you don't want the update , I would install rooted EJ06 and use one of the options listed in the forum to disable it . You can always install CTMod 2.3 or CM7 . They don't get the update . If you want the update , install Kouma's new rooted FA19 version .
