WiFi

Okay, so I understand that having the Wifi enabled drains the battery faster, but I'm wondering when I need to have it on. Does it have to be on to receive emails? I think I really am clueless...

Nope, it surely does not. It's just a faster alternative to using the cellular network for data to/from your phone.

If you have mobile data enabled, WiFi enabling automatically disables mobile data. The advantage of WiFi is faster connections and uses no data from your carrier. The disadvantage is it's very power hungry.

So really the only time I would turn wifi on is if I needed to do something really quickly or if I didn't have any sprint service?? Thanks for your help!

has anyone experienced slow-downs while using WIFI? I can't even get my browser to load at work using our WIFI.

Checked the connection and it's working. I'm only getting 54Mbps on the WIFI. I turn it off and the browser loads, just not too quickly.

I'm coming from the Pre where everyone on precentral said that having WiFi on was a big battery saver. Why would it be different on the Hero?

Hmmm, that's news to me. I'm aware the CDMA, in general, has a higher power requirement. Perhaps it's worth the experiment
