wildfire froyo update.

i upgraded to 2.2 last night after getting a message saying it was avaliable everything went fine it restarted and shows as 2.2 now i have cannot connect to 3g at all all the settings are correct so not sure if its any good
if any one knows how to fix this get in touch

I do have one problem after the update though. Sometimes the Mobile Network connection simply disappears and doesn't automatically come back (no G, H or 3G indicator present at the top at all). The only way to get it working again is temporarily disabling and enabling it again.

if your on vodafone this is a common issue...I've had it on both my old nokia 5800 at times and more commonly my Desire which is 2.2...it drops net for awhile and only by killing it and turning it back on does it re-establish the net connect..

Same happened to me, all you got to do is re-enter or check your APN settings. Menu - Settings - Wireless and Networks - Mobile Network - Access Point Names. If you don't know those settings get them from your network provider.

if you guys who are NOT getting internet but see *CORRECT* internet APNs there, are on vodafone....then its a PAIN IN THE ASS! to get the damn apn settings to work...

if I wipe my desire and have to re-enter the settings it usually takes numerous times of entering them and restarts till 3G comes back online..

You could get them set OTA as a text from their website, I know you can with O2...

i flashed my phone with the stock rom will i get it ? its on 2.1 Eclair
see picture :-)
im in the UK Cardiff and havnt had anything yet

The wife's phone has exactly the same software as you. It's an unlocked and de-branded Vodafone model. No update here yet.

My son's one is 3 locked and branded. No update for that either.

vodafone seem to be very cagey about that now....it doesnt exist on the site anymore :p you have to get a tech guy to email you the settings...though they are the exact same as what the mods are saying in the forums there..

now (finally) on 2.2, t-mobile and must say that it does run smoother and less (well 0 as we write this) crashes
it is of course out of date now as 3.0 is almost here!!!

well since 2.3 is out you could say it is already outdated but saying that some phones are still on 1.5-1.6.
And the wildfire prob wont even get 2.3 :-(
android update too quickly and for those of us who haven't got

I updated mine to 2.2 a few days ago and had no problems at all and did not affect any of my contacts or data :)

There is a update in the u.k
just go on the settings about phone and system software updates and press check now thats how i got the update
P.S Im not on vodafone
:D :)

as has been discussed in many threads and other sites, 3.0 is mostly a tablets based OS and for the much larger screened and higher spec phones....I doubt even the Desire would run it....*POSSIBLY* the HD may get it...but even then...highly doubtful..

I think MOST older android phones are going to stop around the 2.1 and 2.2 marker and save for the higher specs updating to 2.3 maybe...still no confirmation really...I say hell, what more do you really want..the only thing missing on the Wildfire is flash in its entirety like say on the Desire...but its a far cry from what HAS been put out in the past...I know my fianc

I'm a little behind... I just brought home a HTC Wildfire today... My area provider dropped the price to $49 with a 2yr contract... I'm just getting familiar with it tonight... I did the software update search, and no updates showed up... I live in the U.s.A... anyone know if it's out here in the U.S. yet? This is my first smart phone, so I'm kind of ignorant to the software.

Thanks SyN

Don't know about the US but in the UK Wildfire's are now being sold with 2.2 already installed. Check your settings>about phone>software info and if it says Android 2.2.1 then you're already up to date :)

All I see is Firmware Version----->2.1-update 1

I assume I wasn't lucky enough to get the new updated version... I will wait and just keep checking for the update.

Checked with HTC to day 30/10/2010 and there is still no release date for the 2.2 update and the advisor I spoke to had no idea of when or even if the wildfire would get the 2.2 update all he would say is to keep checking the HTC website for news on updates.

I have posted before, I spoke to HTC they said if you phone is unbranded i.e. no logos on phone ( in the uk would be from carphone or tesco) then HTC them self is rolling 2.2 on OTA but any branded phones i.e. vodafone/ orange network providers are rolling it out.

hope this helps

I know Vodafone had been given the update..

HTC said if unbranded not yet received please be patient
