Root Will I Lose Root if I Factory Reset?

Hi, I just bought a used MetroPCS LG Esteem , and the phone appears to be rooted b/c there are two tethering apps on the phone that both work great. I want to factory reset the phone in order to remove the previous owner's email and other info. Can anyone tell me if I'll lose root?

You will lose root but if you have CWR you wont lose that.

Also if you factory reset inside an installed ROM you will reset to THAT rom, not the stock ROM. Not sure about loosing root though.

Wont lose root...as you said you wanted all the previous owners info will be gone as well as any apps you had put on.
If you update to the new C version via the LG site you would probably lose root.
Same concept when flashing a new ROM ya know Wipe Data/Reset in recovery does not remove root.

Didn't think you would lose root but I wasn't sure and I didn't wanna under mind someone being unsure.

This afternoon was showing my son...had him wipe data/factory..then reboot..boots right back to recovery menu....he was like huh what happened(told him ahh man you broke it)...that's what backups are for..bad download and ROM won't load...restore is always a way back to running...
:D

I always go overboard when doing ROM's. I usually make a backup once every 2 weeks, because Im OCD like that. haha

Thanks a lot for all the info guys. The problem I been having on this forum is that the info concerning this particular question seems to be inconsistent. 5thmarvel says i will lose root, and gbiggie, u say i won't. I don't mean to 2nd guess anyone's knowledge here, but im new to this, who should I believe lol

No offence to the 5th...but me:D
The only thing that will make you lose root is an new update from LG ...until root is found for that;)

Listen to biggie... No offense to 5th.
When looking at advice from other members a good indicator on whether or not they know what they are talking about its the little "thanked" number in the members profile ;)
However their are people like me that just sucker people into giving me my damn Thanks :o

Believe the biggie. No offense to anyone else but I've got my help first hand so i can vouch. :)
