Root Will I lose unlock after flashing ROM's

Hi Guys

The Cappy i bought is running unlocked and running on froyo 2.2. I wanna try out different ROM's, but most of them suggests flashing back to 2.1 first and then flashing custom ROMs from there. I am not using this fone with ATT, I am using it abroad in China and wanted to make sure that I would still be able to use the fone before I started to mess around with it in ways that it was meant to be

No you typically do not lose unlock. I have not lost unlock.

However, you want to back up the /efs folder to a safe place. Some ROMs can over-write the /efs folder which can cause issues as the IMEI may not be correctly written.

Hey thanks for your reply. Some site stated that you lose your unlock, because typically when you are flashing ROM's it is recommended that you flash back to stock 2.1 first which will manufacture lock the phone once again. Would flashing to a custom ROM, for example Serendipity 6.4 unlock the device again or would it still remain locked from when I flashed it back to stock??. Sorry for all these noob questions!!
