Help will OTA work without sim card?

I don't think there has ever been an automatic download for an Android OS OTA update.
 
There is no automatic update for OTA. Not even for minor patches. The end user must manually initiate the download in order to install the update.

Ah, didn't realize that. None of the devices I've had have ever done that. I always get a notification that encourages me to enable WiFi for a stable download.

I'm not sure anyone would have such a list. You could try asking around in different device forums, a Google search, or ask in your carrier specific forum (which may give you better results for answers) where others with the same carrier can better assist you. Although, I think post 21 covered it decently.

like i said, i don't think this is carrier related. all updates pushed out by samsung have to be approved by carrier, bloatware added, then sent back to samsung. then the phones get their update from samsung

Box #1 = Manual check

Box #2 = Automatic update over either data or Wi-Fi

Box #3 = Automatic update only over Wi-Fi

i have box #2 CHECKED, so that means it will AUTOMATICALLY UPDATE
but i still have to MANUALLY update for this one by going to box#1
box#3 is checked since i have no sim card thus no data
