Help Will Rooting solve a known issue (BT controls)?

Hello everyone,

I ride my bike to work and use a single ear phone for listing to pod casts and other things for the 2 hours a day I pedal. I was using a BB storm and the podtrapper app (I just saw that they have one for android so I might check it out).

I have the Jabra STREET2 Bluetooth Stereo Headset for listening and intercepting calls (I know I should not talk while riding my bike, but, hey it's hands free ). Today I realized that there is a problem with the galaxy nexus known issues #7.

If I root my phone can I install custom software get the bluetooth controls to work?

Ive got a sony mw600 bt headset and the controls work without being rooted. The controls and connection get hung up far too often but all bt is a pita imo.
