Help Will the X work on the 4G LTE network?

... when it's released nation wide or if you're currently in a test market area? (ie. me being in Seattle)
I was originally going to hold out til november/december time to wait for the LTE network and new 4G capable phones, but a friend informed me that the X will work on the LTE network w/o needing to upgrade to a new handset.
confirmations from the educated is much appreciated :D!

hmmm that makes me want to wait then... if theyre saying november, you think we got a good chance at having some worthwhile handsets to come out with the release??

That's a big NO. It doesn't have the radio inside for 4G. That's why I got a one year contract instead of two for the LTE rollout in the next 2 years starting as early as this December, maybe.

Wait, when will LTE be out on Verizon?

I don't want to commit to 2 years now if LTE will be out before then.

It is rumors that they will try a rollout to 30 markets in Nov or Dec this year. It is just a rumor thou. Total rollout is expected by sometime in 2013.

And when it does roll out in those 30 markets, it's initially only going to be aircards. It'll take a while before we actually see phones that support LTE data.

It's going to be a while before LTE hits everywhere, personally I wouldn't wait. Get a phone you enjoy now then next year or the year after whenever they have it rolled out you can upgrade.

I'm with you...Knowing that all moto phones from now on will have front facing cams, the next gen processors and possible 4g...I can wait...

I would rather have the first in the series of a second generation than the last in the 1st gen..

Verizon is 4g in Boston right now and will be nationwide within 2 years. thats their plan anyway.
Att has no 4g as of yet.

Even if Verizon is pumping out a 4G test signal in Boston, you're not on a 4G phone. Unless you work for Verizon and are using a test phone of some kind.

i totally agree with Fab and Stealth. There is no sense in waiting. It will be a good two years maybe 3 before you get this caliber of phone on LTE. Its just like any other advancement in technology. Something new comes out but it takes a year or two for developers and manufacturers to really learn how to take advantage of it with their products. So i say get you what you want now, something you like. Besides who wants to be stuck with whatever phone you have anyways for another 2 years?

This. If anyone here has followed Sprint's 4G roll out you will know that they had aircards out for like a year or so before the Evo came out. I'm lucky enough to live near Boston and have seen a LG web connect stick on LTE and it was fast, got around 28mbps down however that was in optimal conditions with virtually no other traffic.

with this phone and the next few big ones coming out I can't see LTE hitting in the next year or two. Order and be happy

So if you live in Boston, would the strategy change?

Wait for a while?
Get a 1year contract?
Once again, it depends on whether you are a primary line or not.
If you are and have a plan priced higher than $40, I believe, you qualify for annual upgrade. Only upside of getting 1 year as a primary line would be just to upgrade every 10 months vs 12 and the freedom to leave after 1 year.
If you ask me, I have 4 lines on my plan, where 2 are on month to month with dumbphones, the other two with 2 year contracts with smartphones. When new phones come out, I will simply do a buddy upgrade using the eligibility of the dumbphone lines, and I can upgrade every 6 month or so.

Verizon wont roll out a LTE phone for awhile. Sprint was in something like 30 markets before the evo came out. Sprint tested 4g back in 2008 and didnt bring out a phone untill mid 2010. If Verizon does the same which it looks like they will it might not be untill 2012 when we see the first lte phones.
