it is possible. i found this on the xda website: [ROM][12.23.10] Jiminy V (for Cricket) - 100% EVO 3.70.651.1 - xda-developers
here, the op explains what needs to be done to get cricket programmed to your phone:
"Flashing this rom does NOT program your phone for Cricket, it is simply a rom optimized for full functionality on Cricket with none of the sprint crap you won't use. Your phone still must be reprogrammed either by a Cricket store with the Houdini software or by yourself (or someone who knows how) via QPST and CDMA workshop to have all the proper settings for putting the phone on the Cricket network. If your phone has not been reprogrammed for Cricket yet I would suggest using these instructions:

you do not need to be rooted to get onto cricket. if you like the rom then yes you need to be rooted. i just included the rom link because of the info there. i have not tried this, but i hope this helps.
