Root Willing To Pay for New JB Bionic Root

I've looked all over - I screwed up and updating my rooted bionic and now it's not rooted, and it seems there is little hope someone will make a new root program for the bionic.

So I'm stuck with unrooted Jelly Bean :(

So if anyone is willing to make a new program to root my bionic with JB, I'd be willing to pay you.

Also, if there is a way for me to revert back to ICS and then root it? I'd try that if someone can walk me through it.

Well, Dan R the person who has found most of the Bionic's root exploits is doing one for JB. However, you will need access to Linux, and apparently some skill at using ADB, though someone is going to make a video of the process so that will help a LOT.

I myself don't have Linux, but I think I will see if any of my friends do. However, don't expect a Windows way to root. The talk makes it seem VERY unlikely to happen, though nothing is impossible.

Dan just posted a little while ago about doing the root exploit and they have been with windows. I am wondering where you found the posts about linux and using adb. I read the thread about using adb to restore root if you used voodoo to save it. But I can't find the thread about linux, can you post a link?

Honestly, I haven't seen Dan himself say it, but Samuri and others who are familiar with this exploit Dan is working on are convinced it can only be done through Linux. From the thread...

so is it unoffically official no windows version of the root exploit to be released no complianing and forever thankful just saying....just curios thats all

Yes sir, last I've seen this will only work when executed via a linux terminal. Soooo yeah. They tried to port it to windows when this was first created by Dan and they had some kind of permission issues. So those who don't know linux or ANYTHING about VM or Bootable USB sticks. You've got a day or two warning to get your act together. Try Youtube or something, The link I posted to make a bootable USB stick is pretty self explanatory and all you need to do is make sure you set your computers BIOS to check your USB before your hard drive for an OS. Most computers this involves pressing an "F" or function key from boot and which F key is normally printed on your screen while booting.

If it works with Linux, the good news for Mac users is that it will likely work with a Mac. If you have a friend with a Mac, you should be able to use it there as well. No driver installs required, and getting ADB installed is trivial - you just unzip a file in a folder of your choice.

The irony about people willing to pay for a root exploit is that when Dan Rosenberg developed Motofail he initially charged for it, to make enough money to buy himself a new Droid 4, and people went so crazy that he had to give the solution away for free. So, forgive the small editorial, but when people get frustrated when JB is unrootable on the Bionic, remember that when a developer asks a reasonable price for a useful app and you decide that they are asking too much money... you may be sorry when a future update is required to work with a later version of Android.
