now that is just about the most important Windows tip I have ever read.
I don't know how, I never heard of that little program.... I try to read everything I can get my hands on.

thanks a bunch.

I always thought that SYSTEM had to maintain ownership of some directories in order to..........operate?

Also possible workaround for Windows Defender scan?

I been removing crap folders from Windoze for years, just use Linux to get rid of it.
Then you have to clean up the Registry to remove all references to the missing files.
works just fine.

In the way early days, I opened the Registry and used F3 to search for all the references by hand. what a PITA that is...

then the Registry cleaning apps became available and they can do it automatically, and I delete all files and folders from the hard drive as well....

You didn't happen to make any copies did you?;)
If you mean the iso of reflect, absolutely. I usually make a bootable usb disk from the iso, then just copy the disk image to it. Shoot me a PM and tell me where you want it. I got a few other (really cool) things if you have some space
It may take awhile as I've been up for nearly 36 hours and could use some sleep

An officially deceased thread...

Yes, we have ventured OT for quite some time here. The original topic was "Win10 yay or nay?" So with that in mind, I'll provide my own personal opinion:

If you are running 8 - 8.1, Win10 is a vast improvement (and should be after nearly a year of unwitting beta testing by the masses). Telemetry has been a part of those from inception, so Win10 only makes it harder (and nearly impossible) to disable. The upgrade from 8x to 10 is a highly polished improvement, and they're already tracking "who truly knows what?" Nothing to lose there.

If you're happy with Win7, I would stay there until support ends, with one caveat: If you've taken certain optional updates and/or participate in the CEIP, kill them off.

An exception (again, just my personal opinion) is the LTSB of 10, though not readily available to the normal (non-enterprise) user. This only receives security patches, and no additional "features."

Telemetry aside, if Win10 for the normal consumer included an opt-out of new features, and/or any easy method to remove the store or other unused crap, I would recommend. It's pretty, it's fast, and (with few exceptions) is compatible with most existing hardware.

If privacy is your main concern, run Linux and use a VPN. Still no guarantees, but other than cutting the cord and driving a hammer into your cellphone, you ARE being tracked. Google has been tracking/mining data for years with Android, yet we aren't in an uproar about that now are we?

On or OFF the grid, Big Brother is alive and well...

Deal or no deal?

3Tb Portable HDD

$99.99 if ordered by tomorrow.
I have 4-5 of the 2TB models along with 4 - 3TB desktop units. No problems with these at all. A 3TB portable WD Passport for $100 is a great deal. *IF* I needed storage today, I'd bite. Best to buy a pair and duplicate/alternate usage JIC one goes tits up. My sister lost > 1TB of professional photography stuff and spent > $1k to get them recovered.

In the mail! :)

Yes you can, but there's no difference in the price.

So might as well just buy the WD Passport or Seagate and be done with it. I got 4 2TB Passport drives quite cheap.
I'm all about "multifunctional".. So that's why I use the HDD encasement. Rip the HDD from a laptop or PlayStation 3 and plug in elsewhere, or vice versa. Kill 3 birds with the same stone
