I had my Thunderbolt working perfectly in adb then I rooted a EVO and installed the unrevoked usb drivers and now no matter what I cannot get the adb driver loaded back for thunderbolt?

And know what I can do or try?

Thanks!

what drivers did you have before? i installed htc sync to get drivers, but i had the universal android drivers installed for the incredible,so im actually not sure wich ones worked... my inc,my TB,and my eris are all visible to ADB.

if you hadnt installed sync,id do that, then uninstall it after the drivers are installed. if that doesnt work, look in device manager for your phone, and update the drivers manually and use the universal android drivers listed in the incredible forum in this thread: http://androidforums.com/incredible...ivers-adb-bootloader-disk-drive-htc-sync.html

Thanks for reply. But that did not work either.

I ended up running USBDeview and removing every usb driver that had HTC, android, adb in it and all the unknown drivers. Rebooted, installed HTC SYNC drivers (but not sync, you can cancell before it installs sync) then plugged phone back in and it started working correctly.

I must have had some corrupted usb driver that couldn't be over written or something no idea if that is even possible.

I just happened to come along to USBDeview as a way to fix usb driver problems.

I'm having problems with ADB recognizing my device as well. I was just told about USBDeview, but for some reason I can't figure out how to "run it as administrator" I'm on W7 64bit. What did you do to remove the drivers?

Double click on zip file
Left click on usbdeview.exe then right click copy
Paste on desktop
Then right click and "run as administrator"
Then I clicked on any htc, android, or unknown and removed them.

I think I clicked on red X in menu. Not home or I would check.

Not sure if all that was required but that is how I did it.

Ok, thanks I figured it out. Still can't get adb to recognize my phone, though. I've tried everything, used every guide I could find, but still a no go. I'm beyond frustrated with this stupid thing

Is USB debugging on your phone?

That stinks. Not sure what else to try. Maybe delete every driver. Reboot. Install HTC sync drivers but not sync and try from different USB port.

ive found that changing usb ports and cables often does the trick when adb quits seeing my phone.

so,adb doesnt see your phone in any mode? or just not in fastboot? i tried everything but stand on my head to make my phones appear in a device list while in fastboot. it was fustrating the heck out of me until i figured out that it didnt seem to matter,i could still push files and issue commands and it would work.

I finally got it setup. Someone on xda was nice enough to walk me through it on gtalk. This is definitely something useful to have setup.

i agree... ive been messing with my eris and adb,and i enjoy it quite a bit.

I like the adb reboot recovery the best so far. I transfer a ton of shit almost daily so not having to touch the phone after I plug it in is kind of nice. I don't know how much pushing I'll do with it, but it's nice to have the option.

I wish there was something I wanted to install so I could try it out. I just pulled the black market from remix and installed it on 1.5 nte yesterday, that would have been perfect to test adb out with. It's kind of scary knowing one wrong key press and you screwed, though, but that's also half the fun :)

yeah,i like reboot recovery. i booted my eris into recovery, made a backup, wiped, then installed a rom. i booted back to recovery, wiped and restored a backup, all without touching the phone. :D i changed my bootloader back to s-on,unrooted,then re-rooted using adb. ive pushed recovery images thru recovery and fastboot. i even made my own hboot flashable recovery, like we had for the inc.

tryin to think of some more adb projects, lol.

all you gotta do is find a guide to copy and paste from, lol. eu1 had put up a guide for someone who didnt have a working trackball  him and scary alien have entertained a bunch of my adb questions

its funny, when i first installed scarys tracball optional recovery, i used the standard method with gscript lite cause adb was mysterious and confusing. after knowing a lil bit more about it,i went back to the thread, and changed recoverys back and forth using adb in recovery and fastboot, and was astonished at how much easier it actually was than "non technical" method, lol

Do you still have ErisUsers guide by any chance? Hearing those names brings me back! I think one of the reasons why I feel in love with Android was how helpful all of the vets in the Eris section were in answering all my noob questions. I try to be just as helpful when people ask questions around here because I remember how great it was to have them all be so helpful to me.
