using root explorer or androot, or whichever u have/get, put it in /system/media.

have to make the directory read/write, which in root explorer you press the button at the very top right. In androot theres a r/w button in the bottom menu.

reboot.



Oh and bee sure to give which ever root explorer u use superuser permissions.

this is what it looks like on the phone: the is created by six6sick. All I did was add a blue color overlay and edit the the resolution in the desc.xml to 320x480 to fit the ascend.

This is a .gif, actual bootanimation has 15 .png images in it.
 
Oh man- I still couldn't get it. I wonder if my phone is not using the file I put in system/media/ where is it geting the other boot animation?? I enabled r/w and it still comes up the same. Any ideas?? and there it is on my computer screen laughing at my every effort...taunting.

Which rom are you on? And yea thats where it goes, so only thing I can think or is your not doing something right, tho by what you said you have lol. Have you tried deleting the old and then putting the new one in?

Deleted all 'bootanimation.zip' files and put them back via FileExpert. Also tried Terminal Emulator method. Enabled r/w all of that. Worse thing is it has now become a matter of principal... sure looks nice about two posts up from here, spinning, laughing....

umm all I ever do it drop em in n reboot. I even dropped that exact file into the CM7 zip n flashed n it worked on first boot.

/me is puzzled.
 
All I ever did to the boot animation previously was 'RedCMbootMdpiMorph' It comes up every time at least 25 in a row today... lol

ahhhh I bet the morph did something. Might try asking the creator of that morph n see if he knows or has anyone else have this issue.

Only other thing I can think to try is swap the bootanimation u want out with the one in the morphs zip and redo it.
 
I got it! What happens is the morph puts a copy of the 'bootanimation' file in /data/local once that is removed everthing works just like it should. Thx PG. If theres a will theres a way....:cool:
