Wirefly has it up for preorder

FYI, I tried to cancel as well, but they hold your money in authorization, so beware you may not have 800 dollars available to you for 5-7 days...

I had pre-ordered with Wirefly on Saturday, then cancelled almost immediately after they confirmed the 6-month Wirefly commitment. The authorization hit my credit card immediately, but the next day it had changed to $0.00. The authorization is completely gone as of this morning, 3 days later.

It almost seemed to good to be true when Wirefly was offering up pre-orders over the past weekend. I was told I could order, and they would ship on 2/23, so I figured I could do overnite shipping and have my tablet on launch day without hassle.
Now I was told that once they get the tablets, they need to do carrier approval, etc, so it most likely will ship over the weekend, or by early next week.

Anyone experience this? Or can check on their order as well?

I haven't gotten anything yet from them letting me know it won't ship the 23rd. I'm still torn on what to do. In all likelyhood I will keep my data plan past the first month and it doesn't make sense to have a 3G/4G enabled tablet and not use it, but on the other hand I hate being tied into this stupid Wirefly contract and if for some reason I HATE this device, I want to have the ability to get rid of it. I'm debating over roughly $50 here over a 6 month span. I spend more on a few drinks when I go out on a Friday night so I don't know why the hell it is causing me this much anguish! Hah

Bottom line, if the device hasn't shipped by tomorrow I am canceling. I will go to Best Buy or VZW and purchase one on Thursday.

LOL! We keep an eye on the forums so we can help our customers and potential customers with any questions or problems that they have. :)

It just reminds me of a rule I try to use at work, as well as coach my directs on:
Write everything with the expectation that those you write about will read it. In front of you.

Not sure I had been keeping that thought in my mind on this forum....

I understand. I do the same thing. :)

However, if I can help you with your order and answer any questions you have about it, please feel free to PM me your order number. I will be happy to help and to clarify any questions you have. :)

Same. My bank still shows pending, though I canceled Sunday. No worries about the 5-7 days as long as they don't send me one and take my cash.

wirefly was very active on the evo forums back in june.. shows you that you never know whos looking.

OT..
an old forum (no longer active) i was a mod on back in the early 2000s had a large handset maker reading the site and speaking with myself and the site owner specifically about how they watched that specific forum to gauge interest on their new phone (at the time) coming out. it had a color screen!! the first of its kind... ;-)

/OT

If you have a problem with your authorization release, please PM me your order number and I will get it released for you.

Maybe you can explain why everyone but wirefly has the xoom 799? Your base price is 899 with a so called 100 off.

I think low but if it at least gets them to actually give people a "real" discount ill be happy. As of right now there giving a phantom discount in exchange for locking you into a very real 6 month contract with them.

Hi everyone! I am sorry for the delay in responding, but I had to wait until I had all the information so that I could pass it on to you. :)

We are offering 2 Different rate plan options for the XOOM tablet.

Option 1: If you choose the month to month plan, you will pay $799.99 for the Xoom, but you will NOT be required to maintain the monthly service for the 181-day minimum or be liable for any fees from us for changing the plan prior to 181-days.

Option 2: If you choose the 2 year rate plan, we are selling the XOOM for $599.99, but you will be required to maintain the service contract for a minimum of 181 days.

Both options are available on our storefront now.

I hope that this helps to clarify any questions you all have about our deals on the XOOM. If there is anything else that I can do to help, or you have other questions I can answer, please feel free to PM me. :)

If we choose option 2 - and cancel the data plan at the 182 day - do we need to pay the Verizon ETF?

If not - seems like this is the best deal as this is a 6 or 7 month plan for either $120 or $140 depending on how it plays out in the calendar. Cheaper than buying off plan.

It is a 2 year contract with Verizon, so I am sure VZW will charge ETF. You could downgrade your plan on day 182 though and VZW will not charge the ETF for the downgrade.

So it appears that these are now shipping from Wirefly on Friday instead of the promised 2/23 that was originally thrown out... I am bummed.

Thanks for looking into this. So, you're saying that the "Instant Savings Terms and Terms of Purchase" will not be applied to those choosing the month-to-month data plan and a Xoom at the $799 price level? That is good news; however, I just went to the site and I see when going through the process, the checkbox is still there to agree to those terms.

Any idea if that is a glitch and if those of us who agreed to those terms this past weekend will have them voided?

No doubt in my mind that the new deals on Wirefly that are suddenly showing up are from the good people here that were on top of it.

Congrats.

It is a default of our site to have customers agree to the terms, but the orders for $799.99 will be flagged to not have the instant savings discount applied.
