Im also having the same problem with the evo running cyanogenmod 7.0.0-RC2 (Gingerbread). Everytime i Start tethering it says error. Any help. I really dont understand how to get it from the zip file?

Are you using the built-in hotspot or wireless tether?

i am using wifi tether i download from this place:

i also tried the wireless tether i downloaded from androind market but it gave me the same error.

i am running the CyanogenMod-7-07202011-Nightly-Suersonic.
that is android OS 2.3.4
Kernel Version 2.6.37.6

any help would b greatly appreciated.

error: tethering started with errors. please check show log.
i am using wireless tether v3.1 beta 2
i am not using custom kernel. i don't even know which one to get that would work on the evo.

what rom are you on? and did you check the show log for what the error was? also try wiping dalvik cache and cache and see if that helps. anytime i get errors like that most of the time wiping helps.

Have you tried the fix I referenced earlier in this thread? If not, give that a shot.
