Has anyone successfully gotten a wireless tether to work for the Droid Bionic RECENTLY? I keep researching but all Im getting is old ones that dont seem to work. I tried using SQlite but I didnt get it to work.

I hope you made a nandroid backup of your system before messing with SQLite. There are many people that had done the SQLite wireless tether hack and then couldn't apply the OTA update because it kept failing at the build.prop system verification check b/c the values were messed with.

Last night I did these steps in the following order to get my phone from 5.7.893 to 902, via the OTA update.
-Applied the P3 pathsaver
-Applied TEHRoot. Rooted/4ever rooted device
-Installed SQLite
-Performed SQLite wireless tether hack
-Checked Settings/About phone/System updates
-Update available (902), downloaded & installed
Still have root and the hack seems to be working just fine.

Seems like a lot of work when all you have to do is download FoxFi, and no root required either.

Not really. I was on the leaked 5.7.893, so I needed to get back on the upload path anyway. Once I successfully did that by running the P3 Pathsaver, I decided I might as well go ahead and root the device. Once I was rooted I remembered seeing a video on droidmodderx.com about changing a value in order to hack the wireless tether. I was on a roll, as everything I tried to do last night went off without a single hitch or problem, so I thought what the hell, I might as well try it.
Last time I looked (about a month ago) none of the wireless tethering apps worked on an unrooted device.

Hmm, I do recall reading posts about people not being able to update after the wireless hack, perhaps they did more than just the tether hack then. Looks like it shouldn't cause any problems since it worked fine for you. It's still always a good idea to make a back-up before changing anything dealing with the system files.

In any case, the SQLite hack was only needed the first month or two after the Bionic came out. The latest version(s) of Wifi Tether that dmetro316 mentioned in his post have been working on rooted bionics w/o the need for the SQLite hack since December.
