Solved ""Exchange account" puzzle.
On Google based tablets you have to activate your calendar and contacts. If you do not have a company exchange account first sign up for a Google gmail account. When you first open your tablet and the calendar you will be ask for this info. Use your gmail user name and password. in the server line use m.google.com. If you miss this step like I did you can go into settings-accounts and sync- add account (bottom of page)-corporate. Follow instructions and put the m.google.com on server line. Bingo, you are on. Took me hours and hours (two weeks) to find this info.

where is the Rom for This Tablet with Market?????
THX

I got the WM8650 from EBay with the Keyboard and case. It has the Green light, 3G, Wifi, and a USB dongle for keyboards, mouse. The dongle also has the ethernet port in it.
I got this for my daughter.
I want to know if anyone has any success with a better rom.
I don't want to have a dead unit if something goes wrong.
I would love to have a faster unit, and also a market that has everything that I am used to in it.
Amazon Market is out of the question because I don't want my daughter accidentally clicking on a purchase.
She is on Facebook, and this will be for writing, reading, and surfing...

Any suggestions appreciated.

I got the rom loaded like is posted in this thread... Only problem is that the touchscreen does not work at all now.
You need to try each ROM until you get one that works, I dont remember the site i was on but there was a program that listed all the ROMS. You started at 1 and just went on until you found one that worked. I found 2 that seemed OK but the touch screen didnt work, Eventually i got to number 13 and it worked perfect. On start up it shows Modroid

I'm shocked as to the lack of posts here of this particular tablet...it's fairly cheap ($80 and found on eBay easily).

Anyway, I wondered if anyone here could help me. I wanted to root this device and also put Market on it.

Basically, it's a cheap tablet that I decided to try. It came from China, shipped and made there, and comes with a real version of Android 2.2. However, Market is not included in this version. Some other Chinese alternative was added instead...I kept wondering why it didn't want to register my Gmail account. So would applying a GAPPs to the tablet resolve my issue? I'd just like Market...I can work my way from there. And does anyone know of any root methods or any ROMs available for this tablet?

I have an answer to the Android Market but can't use links in my first post...so look at the next one to follow.

Actually I just bought the same tablet (wm8650) and the workaround is quite simple once you figure out how.
First download the Android market app from here
Multiupload.com - upload your files to multiple file hosting sites!

then set it up and register for account...close app.

Second download the Facebook App from here Download apk/facebook at DownloadAndroidROM.com

Install the Facebook app and logon.....then run the Android market app and then your in like Flynn.

Also try the Amazon.com app store...some great apps as well...get that here http://amzn.to/getappstore
Hope this helps..!!

Hi Everyone
I am absolute beginner. I have WM8650 running Android 2.2 made in China.
I cant get it to set Keyboard default to English.
I cant get to connect to Wifi though the Wifi is detected.
Wifi is WPA but WM8650 tries to enter password in Arabic in place of Roman numerals.
Does Wifi connects automatically?
Some one please help.

First of all you need to go to settings/keyboard and select english, that should change everything to english then once you have entered your passwords and i.d. and it should then remember the codes

Hi.

I am new in this forum. I just puchased 7" MID tablet
Model number: WonderMedia WM8650
Android Version: 2.2
Kernel Version: 2.6.32.9-default
Buid number: generic-eng 2.2 Froyo ver 1.5.0-20110613.113944
Led: Green

I would like to try the UBEROID ROM, but battling slightly to decide on the option to use. I have downloaded the ROM.

Thank you.

I was given one of these by my brother, because he messed it up and i was wondering if anyone knows how to fix it. The display looks like it is smaller than screen size and it loops. If holding sideways what is on top of the screen is repeated on bottom: home button, status bar, time, volume. Holding it straight it loops what is on the right end of display. I don't know how to put a pic on here without having to be a link or I would put that.

Just got this device for my son. Right out of the box it is constantly locking up on me. Has anyone found any way to patch this device without bricking it? Seems to lock up a lot while using the browser and also even when starting up. The Loading... screen freezes and I have to force restart again to get to the desktop. What a disappointment. I expected it to be slow for the price, but I still expected it to function.

Like the OP I tried installing both Froyo Market and GMAIL APK files. both installed ok but neither will launch. The screen flashes white and then nothing.

That is what happens when I try to run the Android Market. I downloaded the APK for it and it installed without issue, but when I try to run it it flashes white and then shuts down, not the tablet but the app. I read somewhere that there was a patch that resolves this issue but good luck finding it and the directions.

Hi everyone,

I'm new here and have been reading this thread with interest as I've got one of these little gizmos on its way in the post.

I've got a few questions, if anyone would be kind enough to answer them:

1/ I've seen (both on the manufacturer's website and from some Chinese vendors) that this tablet is available with Android or WinCE 6 OS. I couldn't find a UK seller offering the WinCE version, so have bought the Android.

Knowing that the device supports WinCE, is it as easy as getting hold of a copy and installing over Android, or is there more to it than that? I know nothing about Android but am (reasonably) familiar with WinCE and already have a few programs that will run on it, particularly TomTom Navigator.

2/ Does flashing the ROM automatically wipe any pre-installed programs, or does it just give you the option to remove these?

3/ I've seen a few people say the device isn't Bluetooth equipped, but all the advertising I have seen (including the site where I bought from) say it is. Is the lack of Bluetooth possibly a side-effect of using the Uberoid ROM, ie is it the firmware that doesn't support Bluetooth functionality?

I think that may be all for now, but I may come up with some more yet!

Many thanks in advance,

Rob

Ok, I saw on line that while people were unable to get the Android Market properly installed, the were able to install the Amazon Android App store. So I tried and behold it worked.
My question is, does anyone have any experience with the AAAS? I try to download free apps and it asks for a payment method.
Is this normal? Just something that needs to be set up to have the acct. I don't remember the AM asking for any payment information until I tried to buy something. All free apps just downloaded.
Any help with this would be appreciated.

It sounds like you have the same tablet that I have. I would recommend downloading this link: Uberoid_WM8650_2.2_v1.2.2_NL_20110414_8-HcH.7z which was the one that worked for me.

How long did you leave the tablet on when it said "updating"? It took a few minutes before mine was finished. The best thing to do is when updating and stuff like that takes you a long time, do overnight while you sleep. If you wake up and it is still "updating", something went wrong. In very rare cases, like when I rooted my HTC Evo 4G, it took me over 3 hours to root when rooting only takes about 30 minutes at top usually.

Hello! I have this same tablet...

I have a 9.7" Wondermedia
Wm8650
Android ver 2.2
Kernel 2.6.32.9-default

When I got the tablet, everything seems to work. it started up fine, I have some fake Android Market, along with the real one too. Overall...it seems a bit...crappy. Its all old versions, and I can't find half of the apps in the android store (its a REALLY old version of Market also)

Will this rooting trick fix all this? I read that everyone says it really upgraded their Tablet, and I just wanted to double check that I started with the same thing as you guys.

I'm buying a microSD today and then going to attept this. Thought???

Most likely, they just want your credit/debit number on file, just in case you do make a purchase. They are big on their "One-click buy" thing. They shouldn't charge you if you download a free app. You can easily make an account online.

On the other Hand...I download Amazon Market onto my WM8650 - M013s and nothing will download, not even the simple stuff like note pads. I've seen other people who have had this problem also.

Good luck!

Yes for me. I ran a test of % consumption over time (average usage) and it lasts for about an hour for me too. I also had the device on 100% charge, unplugged and put it on stand-by and went mobile. I opened it a couple of hours later and it flashed up the 15% battery warning, so it doesn't seem to last long on stand-by either.

My device =
MW8650
Android v2.2
Build 1.5.1 (2011 07 08)

Mine also has an Apple socket that's fairly meaningless (doesn't charge or allow USB connection). Instead, it uses a 9V 1.5A socket with a Chinese plug, which I now have the adaptor for. :)

Still reading through some quality posts here to work out how I can get Android Apps on my device. Tough gig at the moment, as I'm an old bugger and new to the world of Android.

Wish me well! ; )

Okay... you'll probably notice I'm new to forums as well (double the pain for you guys, but I'll try and post anything useful I experience along the journey). :)

I used this tablet WM8650 in china with china Unicom. It was working ok. Here only Airtel works but when I switch off the tablet again it shows out of coverage area. Reliance works only for Gprs.
I think its locked? if its locked then can any one tell me how to unlock it so i can use with any other sim? or is there some other problem?
