Words with friends

There was a recent article somewhere that said it's due "this" (February) month.

That'd be nice. Hopefully cross-platform as well.
 
Droid Life also reported that some people received emails saying it would be available today. I keep checking google and Droid Life but nothing so far :(
 
I'm a little ashamed to admit I set my homepage to the search results for "words with friends" on the market.. :D I was hoping today would be the day.

WordFeud is nice, but the few people I know with Android phones hardly play. The people at work with iPhones are playing this darn game ALL the time.
 
This was one of my favorite games to play an iPhone, and a big letdown to find out it wasn't in Market. I've been following Android Community and Gizmodo waiting for that article to finally say it's been released...

When it is released, you all should share your screen names so we can get our game on!
 
Wordfeud is better. Words With Friends (WWF) will have only a free, ad-supported app whereas Wordfeud is available as a paid app without any ads whatsoever. Additionally, Zynga owns WWF now and this company is among the worst at harvesting personal information for reselling purposes.
 
I think you guys should check out word smith. I haven't used wordfeud in a while, but from what i remember i had trouble finding games. With word smith you can play a friend or play a random person and you connect within 30 seconds pretty much every time. Just recommending to try it out.
 
The thing is everyone uses Words with Friends. All my friends use it. While there may be other games like it, it would be like using MySpace while all your friends are on Facebook.

I like that analogy. :D

I've tried playing games against random people and it's just not very fun for me. I'm a competitive person, so if I can't play for bragging rights it just loses something.
 
It will b free ad supported version to come out first. In a coupe of months a paid version will b released. I will take wwf with ads over wordfeud any day
 
is it just me or does it not have push notification? or am I just checking too fast while playing my games?

I also notice there's really no invite process, so I can start a game without the other person accepting the invite?

The UI is taking time to get used to since I've been so used to wordfeud, but I'm liking it so far. Love how it's cross platform!

ui is a lot better than wordfeud. I played this all the time when I had an iPhone. There is an invite process, you start the game, but they can decline it if they want.

Reviews say the notification system is busted or slow. Also theres problems playing with iphone users, apparently.

I've tested the push notification. it does work (not sure how fast though), however, there's no settings where it will allow my phone to vibrant or something.
 
FC's while WWF is opened and when opening my notification bar and clicking on something in there. anyone else confirm this on captivate?
 
Playing with no issues with my friends on iPhone. Using the Captivate and I'm getting notifications in the status bar when it's my move. I miss the popup notif's that I got with iPhone... but I'm not complaining. Been missing this game for over 40 days.

Is there way to save contacts? I typed in a friend's contact and it immediately started the game. What if I want to play that person again way in the future? I have to somehow remember their ID?

No pinch to zoom? Does the iPhone version have that?
