Root Working cwm recovery

What could i be doing wrong?
I have downgraded to z3
Rooted
Installed flashify
Tried flashing cwm from op and it says successful. But when i boot to recovery, it is still stock.
I tried the twrp listed a couple posts up and it installs and i can boot into it, but no partitions are accessible all the buttons and menus are there.

I've started from scratch twice now and i must be overlooking a step. I am usually pretty good at figuring this stuff out/ following directions anyway....but i'm getting a little frustrated so I'm stepping out for a smoke....
:banghead:

Maybe type out your step by step and see if we can clarify that for you? I did the same as you. Reverted back to V3, used towelroot, installed Flashify, renamed the CWM from the first post to recovery.img, put it on my SD card, opened it in Flashify, was successful. Powered off and then back on while holding Vol. down until "Factory Reset Processing.." showed up and boom, CWM loaded.

Got it thanks!
Figured out what was happening. When downloading cwm link through stock phone browser it was saving as a .bin file. Tried drive and it saved as .img

Flashified and all is good! Thanks for not bashing me for being a little slow!:D

Ahh yes. With flashify you need to rename it to recovery.img too.

Which flashify is the one you guys are talking about? Flashify (for root users) is the first on the list. That the one?

Um so I am getting errors now when backing up. When I backed up with this recovery before it worked. I had perfect backups with Phil's and twrp so this is baffling me. Maybe reflash this recovery? I am up for some ideas.

Does this recovery actually stick? Also my home button doesn't function properly is that button required for this recovery? Also is it necessary to downgrade to z3 or can it be flashed on z4?

has anyone else been experiencing problems with CWM?
for example i can delete dalvik cache but if i try to delete the normal cache it takes for ever.
last time i let it run.. i think my battery died and then i could not boot my phone up, it stayed at the lg logo.
lucklily i had a backup, but it was a few weeks old.

and another part was that i kept using the "clear free space on SD card" feature.. and somehow it took my 8GBs and it "filled up" my sd card.

somehow my rom seemed to be unrooted if i didnt select fix root problem when i rebooted.

anyone having the same problems? or have any solutions to this?

Clearing the cache taking forever has been a known issue, but I've never had it take that long... Maybe 5 minutes tops.

The others are news to me... Especially the root thing.

I havent had these exact issues . But i was messing around with some stuff and got myself into a boot loop situation and i booted up CWM to wipe and restore my system file and it took like 30 minutes to do just that. The md5 check took like 20 minutes of that time. As far as the root problem i do not know as i have always selected fix root before reboot.

ive let it run more then 5 minutes at a time.
and when it kept getting stuck on the LG logo i would also let it sit for atleast 20 minutes at a time..
since it could of been compiling the files to completely boot, but nothing.

do you remember what exactly you did to cause the bootloop?
so we can all avoid that situation.

and the recovered the system and the boot partition, oh and cache as well. each took less then 5 minutes.

Have this installed and running in recovery, but cannot get it to work. When trying to install from zip it says: E:Can't mount /sdcard/
Sideload doesn't work either....

I want to ask again because I never got an answer back. I have tried to backup my phone with this but every time I try I get an error that it couldn't backup the data patrons. Any ideas about this?

How big is your SD card? Sounds like you're running out of room. You'll need about 4GB free.
