Root Working CWM Root Zip

The latest CWM that 2fast released is bugged. You'll need to fall back on the 5.0.2.7 version. Take the android-info.txt file from the 5.0.2.8 boost version you downloaded and drop it into the zip file for the 5.0.2.7 to get it to flash and you'll have the version that works.
 
@ Dalaquin. With a whole lot of help from Apache Thunder I'm just getting this whole thing figured out myself. I did find out for myself though that you need to use CWM version 5.0.2.7 for the Boost Mobile HTC Design. PM me and I'll give you the link where you can download it.
 
Thanks Apache now rooted just fine after the annoying update. Oh and if this only for Boost it's odd then that it just worked for a Sprint phone. Maybe i misread the OP.

it says clearly that i have no idea if it works and that you try to flash it on a spring phone is at your own discretion since i had have no idea if teh block devices are the same in the sprint version

as i remember correctly i had to change the block device for /system to be able to flash it and honestly the sprint version is different and it might have flashed it somewhere where it s not supposed to go

all i m saying is i only guarantee a successful flash on the boost version and even there i can not really guarantee it will not burn your phone to the ground

so the file should be used for what it was designed for but if it worked on yor evo grats ..... i would have been afraid to flash it without prior checking of the block devices on the phone

The Sprint Design, HeroS and Boost design is the exact same phone. The partitions are the same so nothing needed changed. Roms and kernels are also the same and will work on either phone. You just need to change the mms settings, which isn't hard to do.

The only other difference is the HeroS firmware will not have the 4g option.

Hi Apache, First off Thanks soooooo much for all your hard work. I'm new to android/HTC, but only had the phone a week before your work had me rooted and running how it was meant to be. ;-)

Question - I'm running the rooted ROM above you built, but now want to apply CWM to do my nandroid backups. Do I have to re-flash to stock ROM, flash CWM, flash root, and then restore with Titanium backup?

No. CWM is stored in a different partition in the phone and will not effect your data/settings. You do not need to have root to flash CWM. It also will not interfere with root if installed after rooting.

As for adding it to CWM backups, the only way to do that is to re-backup after having CWM installed. Changing out the recovery.img file in the backups will likely result in CWM stopping a restore due to md5 mismatch.
 
i cant flash CWM recovery after updating my sprint evo design 4g to ics...it says main version is older,update failed...please help me get through this problem..thank you..
 
I would like to take this time to thank apache thunder for all his hard work as well as zombu if it wasnt for you guys i wouldnt have made it as far as i have...but i seem to have come to a halt seeing as ive been succesful in unlocking my bootloader but just cant seem to find a way to flash any root recoveries or roms for that matter until i reached this thread....and then some hope came back as this was the light at the end of my tunnel....only to have it crash down on me again,none of the links seem to work for the cwm recovery file zip and when i was redirected to xda through apaches link crediting a fellow dev i had come upon a startling conclusion...at some point in time devs from this sight had a disagreement on who should have access to what files with devs from xda.....so i assume.....and have now reached a crossroads for no 1 seems to be that helpful in certain situations,and ive been reading all the threads on this site on this subject,therefore feel more comfortable getting help here

the mirror doesnt work as well

also i capitalize my PH44IMG.zip am i doing something wrong there thanx for your help and sorry for the lengthy comment
 
.b.t.w. apache ive been following your threads for quite some time and am happy to say(although im no expert yet no novice and have a decent understanding of how these things work)they have kept me motivated though some had me lost i loved them all for the most part thanx alot i know this is far from easy but the spoils in the end are sooo worth the fight keep it up
 
what about boost mobile hydro? my phone just restarts over again up to the boost logo and that is it i cannot get my phone in to the download mode in recovery it just says E:cannot load volume/misc... i think i lost my os how can i fix this? if i send it in it will take weeks to get it back i cannot wait that long please help..

My friend has 1 & I was able 2 reset by .....pulling the battery...then after that hold power, volume down & house looking (soft key) .....try that
4 the hydro
