Help Wrong Location

Not sure if any else is having this issue but it just started yesterday. For some reason my phone keeps saying that I am in Maineville Oh. I live in northern Ky, almost 40 miles away. If I switch to google maps it will sometimes update and put me in the correct spot...sense then updates to my current location, but a few minutes later it says I am back in Maineville. Any one else having location issues or know of any fixes?

Thanks,

Do you have your GPS on? Even still, I wouldn't think the nearest cell tower (which I would assume Sense uses for your local without GPS) would be that far away. Perhaps it's the nearest area for weather info? If you go to weather.com or any other site, where does it list the nearest weather info for you?

Yes, GPS is on...I have tried turning off and back on, but I get the same result. The Weatherbug app lists me as Maineville as well. And if I use a google search, it places me in that area too.

I have restarted several times to no avail. Not sure what the deal is. I guess a tower could be down somewhere, but that doens't seem to likely.

I believe this is a Verizon location service issue. I have had this happen a few times, and been all over the place (Ohio, New York, Houston, and the latest, Montreal. I am at my desk in Savannah, GA when it occurs). If I am outside, getting a GPS signal, it is correct, but when my phone is relying on tower triangulation to locate me, it goes screwy. It usually resolves itself in a day or two.

That sounds about right. When I went outside on my way to lunch it corrected itself, now back at my desk it is doing it again. Guess I will just wait it out. Thanks.

Well the issue still hasn't corrected itself. I noticed yesterday afternoon that no matter where I was it had the wrong location...indoors or out.

Not sure what the problem is.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this issue? My GPS has had the wrong location for almost a week now. Anyone else experiencing this issue?

Just tried that. Still no luck. The GPS bounces between 2-3 cities all of which are anywhere from 30-40 miles from where I live.

I am apparently in Levittown, PA this morning. been like that since Friday at my desk. I really don't think there is anything that can be done, it's what Verizon's location services are reporting to your phone. But you can try calling customer service.

I also had some strange location reports. What corrected it for me was to turn off all the verizon locater. Now I get the correct location all the time from just Goolge. If I need to use my GPS I turn it on for the trip. My wife has her Google and GPS on all the time and gets correct location as well.

I think the verizon locater is the problem. Try turning it off and living with the Google and/or the GPS and see if that corrects it.

Wife had same problem on her Thunderbolt, same time frame, except she was in NC and the phone thought it was in CA.

Your phone can use up to 3 different location services. VZW, Google and HTC. Turn off VZW location services. Google and HTC location services are all you need (as long as you aren't using VZNavigator and VZ Family Locator or any other VZ-bloatware-location-things)

I'm having this issue as well, but maybe slightly different.

First of all, I do not use Verizon Location Services, I only use Google and occasionally GPS when I need to be very accurate. My Rezound has been saying "Montreux" lately, which happens to be in Switzerland, where I was on my honeymoon three weeks ago.

The strange thing is I have just purchased a Motorola Xoom (Verizon 3G version), and it is telling me my location is Montreux, Switzerland as well. And though this is the Verizon 3G version, I am using only wifi.

It seems almost as if Google has cached my location somehow, as I can't think of any other reason this new tablet (which I did not even own at the time I was in Switzerland) would tell me I'm in Montreux.

I've tried turning on different location services and turning off others, and have been able to temporarily display my real location, but after a while it always reverts back to Montreux.

Any ideas here? Is there some location cache that can span multiple devices? Neither my Xoom nor my Rezound are rooted. Not really sure how to resolve.
