Root www.unrevoked.com Went Live

Oh man was waiting for this.. unrevoked does it again.. little more steps then last time.. but very simple compared to other ways.
 
AHHH, did a little reading on xda, If you are having 4g issues after this try updating your PRL AND profile and it should work after that (at least it worked for me). I will also keep an eye on my evo to see if it fixes the resetting issue for me
 
Yes, but you need to go to the Market and Download rom manager (free). once it downloads go to Flash Clockwork mod recovery (dont touch anything while its doing its thing.) Then Click on download a ROM go to fresh and then download Fresh EVO1.0.1. it will take a good 20 min to download on your phone. then when it is complete it will ask you if you want to wipe and back up. Check mark both and say ok. It will go 5-10 min.(don't touch anything) You will then be rooted with fresh and have none of the Sprint Bloatware there.

Please note: this will wipe everything as if you did a hard reset, so back up your apps. I use app brain.

Everything works with fresh.

I am using Windows 7 64bit with an amd processor. I had to tell it to scan for plug and play devices from the device manager and it installed some adb driver (not the android driver, that had been done already, this was different). I already had the SDK installed from when I had the Hero. I am not sure exactly what it did, but it worked, finally.

i dont understand.i got so angry i throw my last evo and caked the screen...i had coverage tho.but i have tried almost everything. hear is my phone info. firmware 2.1update 1. basedand ver 2.05.00.06.10 kermel 2.6.29x build 1.47.651.1x yes its been updated...i got my last evo rooted by a frind.but it ****ed up but this 1 is the updated software and i cant root this thing at all. i have tryed all of the flowing links.

Do OTA Simple Root if you did the latest OTA that came out around July 4th: [Program] SimpleRoot OTA 1.47.651.1 Edition - xda-developers

After you do Simple root: How to start over: Fully rooted stock 1.47.651.1 in one shot (no adb!) - xda-developers
Please Note after line item 14, you come to a black screen with a red triangle. You need to go back to Simple root and click at the top on extras and drop down Flash recovery. (ClockWork)

i put PC36IMG.zip in the root of the sd card tried it with .zip and just as PC36IMG and it will not load 2 it just sayz wrong img it will not scan it.
 
if you couldnt get unrevoked3 to work for you.... im not sure if anyone can help you, all you need to do is go to the website and read the instructions. pretty simple really.

Because I am completely new to all of this (and 24 hours ago hadn't even heard of rooting), the unrevoked was appealing to me because it was seemingly pretty easy and all I was looking for was hotspot capabilities. I don't have an issue with delving deeper, I just am leery of screwing anything up. Once I have the hood popped, I don't want to to do too much tinkering under there! I will give that method a once over and see if I feel comfortable with it. If not I guess I'm stuck "stock."

In addition...I recently upgraded to 2.2. Is that a/the problem possibly?

Auto, just checked your link...seems like even I couldn't screw that up, but noticed the 2.2 warning...advice?
 
Also, when I try to install from the /m site directly on the phone, I immediately get a "AH FARGH IT COULDNT CREATE THE GODDAMN MARKER" message and nothing at all happens...

You have 2.2, that means you have time to read and get comfortable with rooting. There isn't a root for you yet.

I don't know where I came up with the idea that I could root with 2.2, possibly it had something to do with the fact that I was reading up on all of this at 4 this morning and half asleep. Oh well, maybe someday soon. Any outlook on when that might be?
