That was what I was thinking. Even with a lot of the same hardware the dual core has to have some implications on building the kernel. It is just hard to wait.
can't flash a rom until we get a custom recovery... can't get a custom recovery until we get bootstrap
is the bootloader locked or encrypted? Will this phone get custom kernels?

encrypted. no custom roms. unique roms based on stock, i.e., overclockable, de-bloated, themed ... yes. Custom? no. not until Moto gives out the keys to the bootloader.
For now, enjoy Root and all its glory: Underclocking the processor, Wireless Tethering for Free and the ability to lock out some of the bloatware.
i think verizon has stopped the free wireless tethering... though if it works for you go for it. just beware, they are cracking down on that problem
what Steven meant by "custom" ROMS is ground up built from scratch...even the OGX and D2 DO NOT have these...everything up to this point has had to start with Motorola's work as a base...I'll just point people to the Droid X and Droid 2 development communities. Even with the eFuse locked boot loader, a lot of custom ROMS, Stock ROMs and even over clocking has come out. Two months from now this will be a non-discussion. Its just patience.

We could be in a much worse off situation. Look at the Droid Incredible 2, they only have temp root which needs to be redone every time they reboot the device. Shoot, we could not even have Root!
