XDA Developers

Does anyone actually rate this site?

I joined it when rooting my S2 last year. It took me round and round in circles. Everything was so fragmented and hard to get to.

Just went back to ask a question and cannot post anywhere because I have less than 10 posts....

I have spoken to people whop rave about XDA Dev's but I have never found it of any use...

While the culture is different there, it is an immense resource that all of us use and learn from.

If you have any interest flashing custom ROMs and the like you'll end up going there from time to time. I agree it can be very hard finding things. They could really benefit from a tagging system. Still, I'm glad it's there. It's good to have one place where devs can share their work.

I go to XDA Developers from time to time for status updates on the ROM that I use and a couple of other apps. Even though XDA has some useful information when it comes to Android, I find it too stuffy for my tastes. That's why I only lurk there and way more active here.

I think a lot of people have the same opinions on xda, it's a brilliant source of information, downloads and help plus much more, but it can be harder to navigate and make head or tail of, especially for beginners. But then part of the ethos on the site is that it's not really meant for beginners, despite having guides on how to develop as well as just root/flash a Rom etc.

In that sense it maybe keeps it a bit more elitist and we get more members here thanks a friendlier approach and more time for"daft" questions etc :-)

If you have an international s2 then you couldn't do better than ironass's guide for rooting, it's so good,I even used it to root s4 before got his and I used it again for my Mrs s3!

To be fair, I don't consider myself an elitist. However, I find it extremely annoying to be asked the same question multiple times that was answered multiple times on multiple different pages of my thread(s).

agreed. XDA is a great source of INFO.....but damn they make it hard to find it. Such a cluster over there.

They have gotten a bit better with the language if not the sentiments. Used to be they mostly wrote in cellphonese and you needed a lexicon to read the posts.

XDA is its own as we are our own. While XDA may not be what most here would call "User Friendly" they are infact very useful. Most developers are loners anyway so they are not worried about being friendly.

I only use it for information I never go and ask questions because everytime I get well a simple search would have. and well I know a simple search can also produce loads of unwanted results.

But in the end as my friend Early would say Their House Their Rules and Their Way.
