Xoom or HP touchpad - now what ?

I love android but can't help that webos seems much more polished and advanced. I'm gettin the xoom in a few weeks but if webOs had google chrome, I think I would wait for the touchpad. I live in a browser and having sync with chrome is something hard to replace. Damn u HP ! Making my like complicated. Now I'm second guessing ! I just put my iPad up on eBay today. Even the pre3 looks good.

Anyone else feeling me ?

I bet the Touchpad will be a great tablet. H/W and S/W wise it looks beautiful. WebOS is very nice.

What I would miss would be the Android eco-system, the apps, and importantly the Google native apps. Beside Chrome sync as you note, the native G-mail, Picasa, Google Maps, Youtube, Calendar, and (hopefully eventual) Docs apps offer a much better experience on android.

It's XOOM all the way for me, but I can see a Palm fan going for the Touchpad in a second ..

Eh, my wife has webOS. It is ok. Fairly intuitive, but not for me.

Also, I hate to say this because it gets on my nerves when Apple fanboys use this argument, but the app market and development for webOS is pretty far behind.

The honeycomb browser looks substantially similar to chrome. Don't you think you'd have a better chance at getting it on google's own platform?

I believe they said Honeycomb's browser was basically chrome. I remember them saying it had tabs, bookmark syncs, and incognito mode. Not much point in them putting the scaled down mobile version on a device which is basically a netbook, as long as they use native code.

the resolution on the HP are kinda meh when compared to the Xoom. The rest is kinda a wash hardware wise i think. I think software wise, honeycomb is where its at though

hmmm, might have to disagree with more polished and advanced in regards to Webos. I really like Webos and I had I hopes but I'm not banking on it beating Android or iOS. I bet they'll will be a lot of threads that start Xoom or ???...because the tablet competition is gonna heat up!

i will be honest with you, i hated, HATED the palm pre. webOS just seemed weird on the crappy super small screened hardware that was the pre/pixi. however on a tablet webOS makes perfect sense, to me it always seemed webOS was more designed for tablets than phones and the hands on videos coming out today it looks really nice.

that being said though i will still be first in line on the 24th for a xoom. you can't beat the xoom specs and the weight of google behind honeycomb.

Personally, the lack of GPS (only a-GPS, and only in the 3G models), HDMI, and 1024x768 resolution killed the TouchPad for me.

Do they not know how many apps and websites use location-based services?

Wow, I didn't realize it didn't have GPS. That is a big minus..

The rumored $699 price tag for the TouchPad should make the Xoom a no-brainer.

An extra $100 for better screen ratio, higher resolution, HDMI, GPS, and a tablet-optimized OS. Sold.
