Xoom Screen Quality?

Screen is just OK for me. I am underwhelmed to say the least with the screen resolution, particularly when viewing pictures and gallery items. Video is a bit better, but not great. I was definitely expecting more.

I am viewing this site from my new xoom and it is crystal clear. Not blurry not pixely, nothing. If you have not used one or don't have one, why not reserve passing judgement for those with Xoom experience.

I have the XOOM. Text is fine, not great but fine. Pics are blurry. Import a pic, or go to your Picasa site if you have it and look in the Gallery ..

Text is better than on ipad. One of my biggest complaints was pixelation of text on ipad because of resolution. Xoom I notice slight pixelation but I have to focus on it to see it. So I am very happy with screen. Ecstatic really.

there was a mention in an article about it i think. it has to do with the capacitive touch screen technology perhaps. Might be the same thing they describe and it might be different

If there is any chance you could point me in the direction of the article, that would be great!

Also, again if anyone could do some pressing on their screen and see if they get any weird artifacting and let me know, that would be great.

Thanks!

Everything is super sharp for me. The only time anything is blurry is if you have the autofit page option on in the browser, then it will be blurry for a second then focus in.

Let's get one thing straight, the Xoom's screen has a higher resolution than the iPad. Xoom is 1280x800.

Personally I love the screen but I'm biased.

Web pages look good to me. Pictures definitely do not though. Maybe it's just me, but I have looked at many of my pics and they are anything but sharp.

I was alone in the Verizon store for about an hour, and went back and forth with the iPad screen and the Xoom. The Xoom screen is slightly less bright, and slightly less saturated then the iPad screen. The resolution (although slightly higher on the Xoom) looks about the same to the naked eye. I do think that Google should have chosen a brighter default background, the black and blue highlights just don't grab your attention like they should. I changed the demo unit's background to the included lilly pads and everything looked much nicer.

I'm a fairly avid reader and currently use a Kindle. The screen obviously cannot compete with the e-ink for clarity, but I think it will do just fine as a replacement.

I walked out of the store with the Xoom without a contract.

Were you using auto brightness or did you manually set the backlight to max?

I have been pressing all over my screen but I am having no issues with it. Not water ripples, no pixel changes, no artifacting...NOTHING. Sorry about yours.

it's been mentioned that if you adjust the settings in the web browser small fonts and disable "fit to screen" the text rendering is much better.

Does anyone else have very light lines the extend horizontally accross the screen. Only viewable when the screen is off in bright light or dark backgrounds in bright light?

So I've put the Xoom side by side with my iPad and I really can't tell a difference between the screens.

I think the concern is the Ipad 2 will blow them both away, and at a cheaper price point.

I have to agree with Don S on the blurry picture criticism. Going to gallery and viewing pics from my picasa account - they just don't look good. If I zoom in on the pics they look better - still not great. I owned an ipad prior to this - so my criticism is based on a comparison to viewing the same pics. Web pages and text looks good - but viewing pictures is a disappointment - at least with the built in gallery app. Maybe I'll try a different app.
