Just setting up my New X10, I had to take mine back today due to issues with it, and I got a nice new replacement now I just have to set it all up again
Hi,
I am using X10 for last few weeks. The issues that I have noticed so far are:
1) Lack of front camera. So no video call support. With such huge price tag it should have been there.
2) Lack of option to use 3G mobile internet and WiFi simultaneously. There are few applications (like Skype on 3) that require constant connection with operator's mobile internet and do not work on WiFi. Now if you want to use WiFi for fast browsing or VOIP, such applications go dead. A limitation at least for me.
3) Default email client does not support push email and exchange accounts. There are few clients available in Android Market (like K 9) but they have their own limitations. If one installs multiple clients to use multiple accounts then battery does not long last.
4) No built in Voip client. 3rd party clients effect battery performance.

Hi I have xperia x10, and I want to bring back the default TimeScape widget in my Home screen. I have its icon, but not the one that is above the digital clock. How can I get it back. Please advice.
This is not the X10. Its android. It automatically closes wifi connections when the screen turns off. You can disable this in settings
Hi, I too purchased XPERIA X10 couple of week's back. Explored and noticed this on my battery life.
I have re-formatted my phone and brought it to factory default setup. I have configured Facebook and Two email accounts.
That's it.
I recharge my smartphone in the morning fully by 6:00 AM. And by evening 6:00 PM, it is fully drained.
I do not surf, nor used any GPS or online features.
Mails keep coming, though I do not open any.
Is the batterry life only 12 hours?
Is there a way to extend for 48 hours as people comment its possible, in Android forums.
Please advice.
Thanks mate for the information.
Disabling 3G, will it stop my browsing and mail check? The social networks like facebook and twitter are set to Never Update Automatically. Now I've changed it to 1 hour. Is 1 hour lower than Never update?
Roze: If you have it as Never auto update, leave it that way. Just thought you were constantly pulling them that's why I suggested 1hr.
Let me try anyways for another day and get back with results.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Charge/discharge battery a few times initially
Done this.
Use TaskPanel/Startup Auditor to prune start-up apps
Will do it now.
Lower frequency of Facebook, Picasa, Twitter updates
It's set to Never update.
Turn off automatic widget updates
Where do you do that? I have not widget, except T/scape and Dictionary.
If you have widgets like Weather/News, when you open the widget, under setting go to auto refresh (uncheck it)
Turn Wi-Fi and Bluetooth off
Always off.
Disable Wireless network usage for location purposes
It was on. Switched off everyting, including GPS Satellites.
Turn down screen brightness
Auto selection is in the lowest margin.
Lower screen timeout time
I have set it to 30 seconds.
Use 2G when a 3G connection is not needed
Will this disable my email check and Gtalk too? I want this feature to be enabled.
Yes this will disable your email being updated. I don't use Gtalk so don't know. If you don't constantly check to see you have email/fb, then I'd set it at an interval. Maybe every hour or 2/3 hours, depending how often you check it.
Use Advanced Task Killer/ TasKiller to switch off apps not in use
I am afraid, if this would stop updating my facebook/ emails in the Scape widget.
ATK is a bit of a hot potato topic. Some people will swear by it, others say it's useless/pointless. With the Android OS, you don't NEED to use ATK. The way the OS is set up, if the app is idle for an extended period of time (most apps don't close when you exit them) then the CPU will kill it. Using ATK will not affect the update. If the update is push through, then the app opens itself up and runs. Reason why some people say there's no point to ATK, since it takes more resources/energy for the phone to load the app.
Use dedicated power management apps
I am afraid, if this would stop updating my facebook/ emails in the Scape widget.
Again No (same answer as above) I'd recomend using a power management app vs TK. Once you get in the grove of you phone, you can have a good idea how much cpu usage each app uses. So lets say if you have major battery drainage, and you see that there's a rouge app that's using 30% of the CPU when you barely use it. Then you can use TK to close it. Best advice if this happen is to uninstall the app.

Another issue, i used to use my old phone as an alarm clock and it was fine, even if phone was turned off the alarm would still activate. The X10 does not alarm if turned off

Thanks for the info. I tried to switch-off 2G/3G, and my battery comes more than 24 hours. Hence concluded, if we want to utlize this phone to the maximum, it would be less than 12 hours, and want to use phone as a mere phone, can withstand up to 48 hours
I have switched on the connection, as I just can't live without it. Facts, Mails, Chat, Scrapping, Twittering....!
Is there any problem if I keep on charging? Will battery life go down?
Let me try fetching some good task killer. I happend to get Juice Defender, and phew! it was difficult to understand the UI.
There's a really good site that talks about this...but don't remember, if I find it again, I'll post it here for you.Another issue, i used to use my old phone as an alarm clock and it was fine, even if phone was turned off the alarm would still activate. The X10 does not alarm if turned off
I think it's more of an Android issue rather than the phone.
My previous Windows Mobile phones were exactly the same...phone not on - no wake up in the morning for work![]()
Have you downloaded any new apps from the market recently? I for some reason had issues with my phone everytime I download Skyfire. What you can try doing is deleting any apps if any or try doing a Factory Reset and see if that solves it, if not then there has to be an issue with the phone. As for the bluetooth I have had that a few times. try turning off bluetooth then back on and then do the same with the headset, set the bluetooth on phone for the ready to scan and then turn on the headset to its pairing mode, which is usually holding the button down for 5-10 seconds and it will start flashing rapidly . then click on scan and it should pick it up and connect to it. If you still are having issues I would suggest trying another headset if you have access to one. It may take a few times to get it to connect, I have an old headset and I had to do it about 10 times to get it to show up and pair.
