Xperia Z screen problems

i have had exactly the same problem, used my phone took it out of my pocket 5 minutes later and the screen was cracked having no contact with anything, its only 6 weeks old, have been in touch with sony after reading on xperia care site and various other sites at least 70 people with the same problem, told sony they need to sort out the free repairs as this is obviously design/quality/manufacturing problem, may even be related to overheating, if they dont do anything to resolve it I personaly will be reporting it to trading standards, selling an item un-fit for use (as it is no longer usable, also contacting the tabloids and watchdog and see how well their millions of pounds of publicity stand up to the truth from their customers, if they would only respect their customers and admit it is their fault and honour their commitments they wouldnt be getting all this adverse publicity.
I dont accept being fobbed off and wont lie down for big companies, just because they have the money and legal teams doesnt mean they cant be proven wrong I would urge all others in my position to do the same as this is un-acceptable.

I have also experienced a case of the glass cracking on its own - phone was inside a padded bag, which was in turn inside another bag. The bags were not subjected to any stress, strain or shock. When taken out the glass was cracked and the touch screen facility won't function.
I intend to return to Phones4U requesting a replacement as there is enough evidence that there is a design or manufacturing flaw in these models.

The Dutch consumer watchdog publicly called on Sony to stop hiding behind the
"physical damage" excuse and repair/replace Xperia Zs with broken screens...

Sony sucks as a company, technologically, it seems, but more disgustingly, as
a corporation. Along with the corrupt management. To work so hard against
doing what is right and to actively try to lock out, delete,.. topics like this on own forums, etc.. Just a disgusting company...

This I agree with. There's obviously some sort of issue with some Z screens. Some responsibility needs to be admitted.

This type of rhetoric, however, serves no one. Please take care with your words.... accusations of "corruption" are uncalled-for. AF can't afford a fight with corporate lawyers. :)

Without trying to defend anyone, as someone who works in the mobile phone retail market you wouldn't believe the stuff people try to pull. Every warranty claim honoured costs the manufacturer money, and fraud is unfortunately very common. It's sad, but understandable, why they are reluctant to accept the customer's word without persuasion.

I use that phrasing intentionally, with knowledge that Sony knows about the issue and intentionally ignores it, hoping users will go away. Such a company and its management fit that description.

I appreciate what you are saying, but trust me, it says more about you and you being decent, than about Sony, who unfortunately does not deserve that
qualification.
