xScope, a multitouch pinch zoom browser

NM.......I found the reason.

If the User Agent is 'Computer'.....the browser is not location aware for me. Switching it to Android or Iphone works.

Thanks I will take a look and I think I can fix that.

Does pin-zoom work on Hero? Also I thought Hero and G1 are running 1.6, am I wrong?

Thanks

The pin zoom does work on the Hero, and the Hero is running 1.5, but is slated for a 2.1 update. I'm not sure about the G1, but I think it also runs 1.5.

I had to uninstall because the app unfortunately causes the phone to crash on reboot. I triple checked to make sure this was the problem program and it is. I hope this is a fixable problem because I like the browser.

thanks for the app work great on behold II .Just have to wait till tmobile or samsung decide to do their customer some good and release 2.0 android.

Turned out that yesterday I forgot to put in in the release. Sorry guys. [Edit: never mind. I set my GPS off]
Hi XScope......
I'm still not getting any location aware results. The way I am testing this is by going to google homepage.

With the default browser, it looks for a gps signal and then gives me a 'near me now' option

I don't get that with X Scope. Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks. Any hint why it will cause that???

Yeah, don't think the market is ready for xscope on 1.5 yet. Doesn't match the standard set for Steel at least for me. But its obviously working ok for 2.0 so i have hope :P

On few days I had, I'm only using xScope and never had any fc or crashes. No problem with pin zoom which work even when you don't intend to ( while scrolling ;)). Using HTC hero with Modaco custom ROM 3.1 on UK orange. Between days I was testing few things which required reboots on constant basis and again no crashes or any force closes.

Just a note: I've not set any browser as default so that I can select between stock, dolphin and xScope.

No clue. This happens with some programs on my (sprint) Hero. What happens is after I install it it works fine, until I restart the phone. When I restart the phones all the start up apps force close, and I have no service. When I uninstall the app and restart everything is fine. I tried this several times with the same results.

I'm not sure if its a particular conflicting program or what, but I have noticed others with the same problem, but there is no consensus on the cause. Always on the Hero and Eris as far as I can tell.

Maybe it is related to intent handling. I am not sure.
I did encountered one FC this noon. I was so excited however I don't have a DDMS handy :) So there is at least one FC bug at large, guys:D

Another happy customer here. Downloaded XScope Lite a couple of days ago and was very impressed. Fast, clean, functional, with an active, attentive developer. Needless to say, I bought the full version.

Oh, and the new address bar hiding--brilliant! So simple and effective.

With the lite version I did experience a few FCs when opening links from the gmail app, but none so far since purchasing/updating this morning. I just have a few issues/suggestions, and I apologize if some of these have already been raised:

1. When long-pressing an image and selecting "start default app," I get the message, "Can't find application to handle this file."**
2. It would be nice if when opening links from other apps (like email), it would launch them in a new tab by default instead of navigating away from wherever I happen to be.
3. You mentioned something about this, but any chance of getting Google News
Links to open in new tabs? Dolphin seems to do this by default in Google News and Google Reader.
4. Reordering and resizing the bookmark links on the home page would be great.

**A note on #1: probably the only reason I would launch the gallery for an image would be to use the "share" function. If you added this to the long-press menu it would save a step!

Thanks for your efforts and keep up the good work!

calbruc, THANKS
1. I am aware of it and I will fix it.
2. Excellent! This suggestion seems a small step, but when you think about it, it is so important to make the web surfing non-disruptive!
3 & 4 I will do them.

Great suggestions. The one about navigating in from another program to a new tab is something I've been meaning to voice for a while now.

Mr. X, keep up the great work.

droiiiiid, you made me look bad ;)
You are with xScope too long and can be legally bored now.

Forgive them. They are rebellious in fact have no puberty hairs yet :D
Seriously, Dophin is an excellent app and improving too. Elegant GUI, plenty of features.
For me personally, however, I'd like no AD. I installed Dophin 2.0 yesterday and it asked for phone related permissions. I still can't figure of why a browser needs to retrieve user's phone number and contact?
I am aware of lots of xScope related comments in other threads but I don't think it is a good and fair idea for me to post my thinking and comments though.

I just have 1 question. Why do you guys say that xscope is better than Dolphin?

..... give more room to the actual text of the address bar so we can see more text.

Xscope.....small change that you did...but I really like it.

1) Loving the move address bar up and out of the way
2) LOVING the fact that you made the font in the address bar smaller......so you can see more text

I've been using your lite version for about a week now and I love it, I also am an avid user of the phandroid forums and after reading this thread I will be purchasing the full paid version of xscope. It is nice to know that you put so much hard work into to your projects and the response time to questions and suggestions is unpresidented in this make a quick buck day and age. I have no complaints or suggestions at this time, I just have a quick question. In the marketplace you suggest not using xscope as your default browser, I just want to know if it safe to do so now and why some people don't heed the advice of the dev and do it anyway and then complain about the results! Thanks again for all your hard work, it is much appreciated!

I thought no one would notice those small changes :D

It is safe to set it as default and you can always go back.
With the stock browser, everytime you click a link, it will take a look if there is any other default browser available. If so, it will load link in that browser, else load. The problem? If a user is browsing with stock brower and clicks a link, he/she expects the link is load with the stock browser. However with the above logic, the link will be actually loaded in users' default browser. This might cause confusion.
Simply put, here is what I think natural:

With browser A => click a link in A => A loads link.

Here is what happens in stock browser which I think it is polite but unnecessary:
With stock browser => click a link => other browser can handle it better? => if yes, open other browser to load link, else load it.

I just found out about this browser and was all excited to give it a try, but wasn't able to locate it in the Market. Searched online for the exact name to search, or for an APK file - nothing.

Then I happened upon this thread and found out that the Market will only show applications to the phones which support it (implying it isn't supported on my phone), but I was under the impression it was only 1.5 and below which wasn't supported.

Do you have any plans of making the app compatible with 1.6, which is what T-Mobile users of the MyTouch3G are running? I would think this would be a pretty good sized market, and probably half of the people creating posts who are also unable to locate the app in the Market.
