The idea of a special AF utility is very intriguing, but I was wondering if the admin(s) here had considered direct communication with the Tapatalk developers about the issues, with a possible solution and reinstatement of Tapatalk here as the goal.

i dont want to spark anything, but there has to be more to it than meets the eye. Something that benefits AF in the long run

The long-run benefit of removing Tapatalk is assurance that Tapatalk will not be used to compromise security here.
 
There was posted suspicions of a "profit motive" driving those in charge here to replace Tapatalk with an AF utility; even of the security issue being a subterfuge toward that motive.

Those posts were responded to by mods and admin in the negative and with the explanation and reiteration of the security issues being serious enough to take the chance on alienating some Tapatalk users, all with an apology for having to do what they're doing.

I trust their explanation 100%. Distrust of authority and forum administrators is probably healthy, but once the questions have been answered directly, to me that distrust is replaced by trust when considering the overall persona of Rob the owner and of Phases the admin, etc; these are good folks, we're quite fortunate as members.

As a rule I don't pay to join forum sites, however here it was easy to make an exception to that rule.

Removal of Tapatalk well before the replacement is ready for announcement of its readiness date, let alone its deployment here, should lead members to understand that it was a security issue alone which caused that removal.

+ me too :D Tapatalk was on my list of apps to try...but really never got around to it...doubt I would anytime 'soon' had AF not been pulled...lol I'm happy with my browser surfing experience :) Why replace something when it works fine ;)

Ah but the good thing is...had I used tapatalk before it'd be pulled, I'd be like you, all riled up...so I think I'm better off not knowing how great it 'was' lol.

Oh that just reminds me, I think a poster was like, 'how can tapatalk be pulled, I saw a few posts with 'sent using tapatalk yesterday' and I replied that 'those posts must be old'...but now that I think about it...I think the poster saw Merf's posts!!!

Bought it specifically for this forum, not knowing it was disabled here. Hadn't used it, and I see I can't. I didn't realize it was an app that forums must opt into.

If you just bought it within 24 hours, you can get a refund for the app.
 
there are still so many other forums you can use it with though. I'm on XDA now almost as much as I am on here and they still allow tapatalk to be used, as do several other forums...

just saying, the app made browsing these forums tremendously easier when on the go or just when i was being lazy and wanted to check in from the couch instead of the computer but just because AF doesnt allow it anymore by no means makes it worthless.

I used it primarily for this forum. But now I use the AF Mobile site, which is pretty quick even over 2G.
 
I used to use it until it got disabled :( I would use the web browser more but I can't seem to find the subscribed thread section on the mobile site... if there is one?
