Help Younger Sister just bought the Ascend, what the hell does it do?

You and me both! I was going to get an LG optimus, and I got this one for my birthday. I prefer the ascend much better than having something faster, and newer... This phone really kicks the lamas butt, when it comes to doing what I need! I have all sorts of crap, and as long as you keep it cleaned up, and running fine, it will continue to do its JERB! Seriously! I have police scanner, camera apps, and some ringtones/soundboards... I also have Opera mini web browser, and I cannot say that this thing doesn't do exactly what I want! The Metro dealer bashed me for buying it, saying, "that phone is shit, and not worth purchasing, you will hate it and complain to me..." I told him he was a dick, and I don't need his little junk store, if he is going to be an asshole... I pay my bill online anyhow! lol
 
lol. a friend with the optimus is going to metro tomorrow and getting the ascend.

he somehow got ahold of mine and the only downside he found was no multi touch.

he says the optimus is not "fff" fat finger friendly. lol.

He just wanted to upsell you. The guy I go to actually loved selling me the Ascend. He had it too. I also have the Optimus. Let me tell you, For the extra hundred I'd spent on that, IT really wasn't worth it. I disliked my Optimus so much I stopped using it. I can't live without my call/hang up buttons. I also adore my little trackball. Phones are getting too darn complicated. I dun like! X.x

I am sure he tried to upsell me. lol I told him I wanted the ascend, did my homework, and it seemed to be the phone for me. I told my wife, she went to the metro site, and bought it for me. I am very glad she did it, as I have since found out the optimus is a pointless 100+ extra bucks... I am happy with what my huawei allows me to do! It is impressive, even the track ball is great! Sure it feels flimsy at times, but it has saved the auto correction spelling in texts, many times! lol I am very happy with my phone! :D

You know, It's actually quite funny because I also have the Samsung Freeform still laying around my house. Thought I'd just giggle at that because I see it's listed as one of the phones you have. I'm glad you like the Ascend. It's got it's quirks but, Then again so do most electronics right?

According to The Wall Street Journal, 40 million people play angry birds per month, they have sold over 2 million angry birds plush toys for $12-$15 each, they have an animated movie featuring characters from the movie "Rango" and a cartoon series in the works, and the inventor of the game has just raised $42 million from facebook and other investors.WTF?!?
 
I think it's just because of the hype that came with it. The more people who play it, The more people will eventually play it. It is ridiculous but, It's how most things in society work. It is also the major reason for jealousy, greed, etc. X.x People are always making that comment that we are "Sheeple". Of course there are those oddballs like me and you Gmash. LOL <3333
 
It's hard to be humble when you're just so GREAT! If you're happy with 80 bucks a month and being locked into a long contract, AND having to live with things coming down the pipe such as AT&T forcing you to pay extra for tethering, then by all means, eat, drink, and be merry. But do us a favor and get your ferrari-loving spoonfed rich-boy arse back to your own section of the forums. Unless they couldn't stand you either, and maybe that's why you're here to bash what we have, because you couldn't compete in your own class?

EDIT: This just looks out of place, now that the thread got edited, but for those reading, some troll with an EVO on a contract carrier showed up in the Ascend forums to talk smack. Hopefully he's gone back to his fanboys and high-fived about how he was "slumming" and narrowly escaped with his life.

My ascend is running great, installed Icarus 1.1 with all the crap uninstalled off of it. With a little tweak here and there, this little $100 phone is pretty solid. If ya wanna play games, fire up your console. I too, haven't figured out all the hype for angry birds, played it for three minutes and uninstalled it.

I have had my share with contracts and top of the line phones and service and to tell ya the truth, I'm not going back. And it's not due to the fact that I can't afford it, I'm just tired of being ripped off.

Another thing, metropcs' or cricket's service is not bad either. When I had at&t, I had worse service than with metropcs. Plus I have UNLIMITED EVERYTHING for $45/mo.

I'm normally all about the bells and whistles, but I'll take a phone that lags when it texts over a phone that binds me to a contract and basically makes me the phone company's plaything. You may pay 10 bucks a month extra now, but just wait until your phone company decides to heap about $100 more on you one month without telling you because you were on the phone more than they want you to be.

Wait, wait, there's more. The Ascend has a 3.5" screen at 320x480 resolution. multiply that by 10, and you must have a 35" screen running 3200x4800 resolution. I mean, would that be correct, at 10:1 ratio? How do you even fit that in your pocket, I mean that's HUUUUUUGE, man! You must have a kickass case for your phone. Do you carry it on your back? Can you hang it on your wall and watch super-macho-crazy-insane-highest-bestest-badass-sweet-def TV on it?

And if you can do that, then your EVO must hold a 160GB SSD for data storage, since the Ascend maxes out at 16GB on an SD card.

Tell me how epic and monumentally killer that EVO is, boardhead, while you're hangin' ten and livin' the beachhouse life, boppin' all the bettys and loungin' in your love van with the waterbed in the back so I know what life was meant to be like, ok bro?

Wait. Then that would mean you aren't able to have a good laugh either because them you'll suffocate like me! Though knowing you, You'll jerry rig your that half of a lung into working just as hard as a full lung with better efficiency and optimal results. ^^.

I never said beach bum had AT&T for service, never said he was tethering (assuming he has a clue as to how), but I did note that he apparently didn't read the article that's all over the Net, including Phandroid, where they specifically say this:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but does that not sound like they're forcing you onto a plan if you keep tethering "illegally"?

Oh, and nobody cares about his hippie buddy with a grandfathered data plan on a carrier that has been absorbed by Verizon, because that has nothing to do with the almighty 10x phone and its oh-so-awesome 10x owner. As usual, YAT (Yet Another Troll) who couldn't have a factual argument if he were reading the facts and had been given the script beforehand.

FYI, Verizon's cancellation fee is in the neighborhood of 350 bucks these days, is it not? Let's see the receipt from the sale of your EVO to a third party (who isn't one of your rich-boy friends with more money than sense) and then we'll buy into the hype. As they say on the internet, Pics or it didn't happen. Happy surfing.
