Your thoughts on the 2.1v3 leak?

Ok does no one take pictures? Same damn bug is back, took some pics of the kids ate dinner and battery drop was dramatic
Check and camera was 60% and climbing. Been leaving auto brightness on and that was turned off somehow? Anything using that sensor might as well reboot! Im becoming a Friscan, I want 1.5 back. still better than 2nd leak but this aint done either.
Oh yeah rebooted phone grabbed beer came back and lost 5% on battery with sensor usage pegged. bill gates working at google now?

Well I went to xda forums and figured out the su request issue I was having with my root apps. I didn't have usb debugging on. when having root, I guess its always necessary to have that on.

My shoes fell off today, found out I should tie them. Weird.

The one thing i noticed was this morning after i got out of my class i went to call my friend and the dialer said in the numbers area like where you see the input numbers in; "Power saver start a call to exit" I didn't put it in power saver mode and i've never seen this before so i don't know if anyone else has seen/mentioned it but i think thats pretty cool

So, the 'get more HTC widgets' thing seems ok. How about the specific widgets like Friendstream? Any problems yet?

I have noticed that the dialer does seem a bit snappier. I'm not having any issues with it. So far, so good.

It seems the dialer bug is still unresolved. I just tried to make a call to some one on my contacts and the dialer vibrated briefly and there was no audio. - bummer

I'm still getting a lag on the dialer also. Also, the weather is messed up. It showed yesterday's highs/lows today. I'm using Beautiful Widgets. IDK.. weird.

Other than that, everything else is going smoothly.

So far, the dialer is working flawlessly for me. I am actually shocked as it has been soooo long since I have been able to make more than one call in a row. I was sure than even with an official release, I was just going to have to live with my phone not being much of a phone.

Pretty pumped, and if it continues this way, I see no real hurry in getting the Incredible. Pretty sure I'll be sticking with this phone for a while. We'll see what else Verizon has up it's sleeve in the coming months.

This leak is good but I have one bug that I haven't seen mentioned.. Sometimes when my phone is on vibrate the dialpad makes the sounds still, but then when I move it to silent and then back it goes away. Weird. But this leak is much more stable. Haven't gotten a single FC yet. And the dialpad is MUCH better now.

Also, I never had that bug where calls went silent in the middle of a conversation. For me, my screen would be off and my phone would magically mute itself or just plain hang up on them. It really annoyed me. It hasn't happened yet, but I haven't talked much on it sicne I upgraded.

How did you do that, I don't see an option for it anymore.

You can disable the sound when you dial a number by going to Menu -> Settings -> Sound & Display -> Audio touch tones -> Off

I don't know how to disable vibrate for dialing...and I'm sure you already know how to turn off vibrate for the keyboard. I'm using Swype so I don't have vibrate on the keyboard either.

I found out that the 50% time without signal is still a problem after I rebooted. Oh well. It's a minor problem and the fix is easy enough.

My battery has been draining much faster. According to Spare Parts, the Android System is top on the list for partial awake usage. Since it's not an app, I'm not sure of a way to remedy this.

Oh, and when I put my phone into Airplane Mode, my awake time still goes through the roof. The phone won't sleep.

Because I am weird, sometimes I go into a verizon store and check to see if the floor model of the eris has been upgraded to 2.1, or if it is still on 1.5. My thought process is that verizon might get the ota on the demo phones first as selling point. To make a long boring story short, their eris was still on1.5. For giggles, looked at the cell stand by time, and it was at 56%. Then, I saw the incredible! (don't worry, not where this post is going) the cell stand by time on the incredible was s whopping 71%! And thats with the"official 2.1" so that bug still isn't fixed

I don't think a high number is bad for Cell Standby Time. The bug was with the "time without a signal".

Same here. Dialer is very much improved. Better than 1.5 and the best of the 2.1 leaks.

One thing I like about the Eris is the Google and HTC folks are able to squeeze as much performance from the CPU as they can. Sure, you can throw a 1GHz Snapdragon at the OS ( and who wouldn't want that really? ) but it's nice to see them continue to optimize it and make it better for the end-user.

This is the best leak I've used so far. Just loaded it up for my wife gave her my Eris and it's nice.

One thing I've been thinking about is this "xx% without signal" issue. I'm starting to believe that sure it might be a glitch, but does it really take away from anything....like battery life?

For example....after I upgraded to the Inc my Eris was de-activated for 2 days before I gave it to my wife. I charged it up full and turned 3G and wifi off (didn't matter anyway). After ~38 hours the battery was still at full aka 100% and time without signal was 72%. Hmm. So I've been monitoring this on my Inc and it sometimes get's up to 40% depending on phone usage. Typically it sits at around 28%. Battery life on Inc is a little better than the Eris thanks to all the info here on how to improve battery life.

I'm not a android guru or for that matter a technology expert just though it was interesting even if it doesn't offer anything concrete.

As for the Eris and Inc and I'm sure you all have heard comparisons made....build wise the Eris is a tank and the form factor is superb! Will take me a while to get used to the Inc, it's very different, but the Eris is a kick a_s phone!

Ok I think I figured out the camerathing. If you send a pic right from camera app it doesnt seem to shut down properly. Sometimes it stays running and can simply be killed other times it seems to lock up the sensor and doesnt show in atk.
Noticeable because the auto brightness stops working then you have to reboot to fix. So I will avoid that behavior for a while and see what happens long term but so far.....

I only read a couple of your post.

I noticed some of you having the 50% signal problem, not the case with me or my wifes:D

v3 is working absolutly great! I am confident that based on this version that it will be just a very short time before the official OTA update comes out

Thank you Caddy for get this to us!

I didn't have it either until I did the *228 update. Not a big deal though.

Well everything seems to be running smooth for me. I went from 1.5 to 2.1v3.
I do have the 50% cell stand by bug, but it wasn't until after I did the *228 programming. One thing that is bugging me is all my Facebook contacts numbers, in my phone book. I almost called some chick from high school I haven't talked to in 20yrs. Anyone know how to get rid of them? I looked thru the pages and pages of bugs and fixes, and I see it mentioned, but not how to fix it.

Thanks
