Your thoughts on the 2.1v3 leak?

Hello All,

I recently upgraded from 2.1 V2 to 2.1 V3 and have noticed my battery doesn't even last a day now. On V2 it would go almost 2 days before requiring a charge. I have the same apps installed as on V2, so I'm wondering if someone can provide some insight.

I just rebooted the phone as I noticed the uptime and awake time were virtually the same.

Any insight would be MUCH appreciated as I can't live with a battery that only lasts 15 hours.

Thanks!
John

Do you have Spare Parts? Check to see what's using up your battery. Your uptime & awake time shouldn't be the same (something is not letting your phone sleep).

Mine won't sleep in airplane mode, but haven't had a big issue with this otherwise.

The beta 3 has been giving me crappy battery life. Maybe I missed out on changing a setting from pre-beta 2 that I had on there that I don't know that's making a noticeable difference.

Is there any to disable button vibration. On the device and while typing. See posts saying go to settings- sounds. But 8 can't find it. Does Spare parts maybe fix this.

Running 2.1v3

To disable vibration for the 4 buttons (home, menu, back arrow, magnifying glass), go to Menu -> Settings -> Sound & Display -> uncheck "Haptic feedback"

To disable vibration while typing, go to Menu -> Settings -> Language & Keyboard -> Touch Input -> Text Input -> uncheck "Vibrate when typing"

Its under settings_sounds and display. Its called haptic feedback. Uncheck it to stop vibration on home, back, etc. buttons.

If you see "Time without signal" listed there and it is at 50% then you have the bug. It doesn't actually appear to cause any trouble with the signal in anyway though. It is just a bug that some see as a cause for battery drain.

To fix, simply put the phone in airplane mode and let it sleep for a few seconds, then take it out of airplane mode and continue everything as usual.

Damned, that's still not helping me...any other suggestions?

These are apk's for Swype lite. First one is the normal one, and second one has a modded skin by sh0ebox? I can't remember the name and that thread disappeared. The modded one is black with blue highlights of the letters when you swype over them.
Thanks for sharing these. This worked for me. I missed Swype.

Plug it in to a charger for a few seconds, then take it off. The counter resets once you take it off a charger. You've already technically fixed the issue, but the counter takes the time without signal divided by the time the phone has been off charger. Putting it back on reset it and it should go back down to 0% immediately.

Smacky,

Nope, it did not reset at all. Time without a signal staying at 50% even in airplane mode.

So you put the phone in airplane mode, then put it to sleep for a minute or so. Then woke it up and removed it from airplane mode. Put it back to sleep for a while and the % should start dropping. Depending how long you've had it awake, it may take awhile for it to drop.

Dianna, just restart the phone while it's still on the charger. Put it in airplane mode. You don't have to leave it in for long or even put it to sleep. Just let it draw a charge from the charger and while it's still on the charger, take it out of airplane mode. Then unplug it.

I don't need to use the charger to fix mine. I do have to do the airplane mode every time the phone is reset though.

Yeah, the charger just resets the timer which is what is used to calculate the %.

If it still doesn't go away, just make sure you do the airplane trick and then see if battery life improves. If it does, then just stick with it. If not, I would say try a *228 with both options 1 and 2 and see if that works. If not, I dunno what's wrong.

You guys seem to know what you are doing.......thanks for all the help....I'm going to try all your suggestions....oh BTW...I have a non-rooted phone w/ 2.1 v3 if that makes a diff...

Ok, did what you said, checked battery use, cell standby is 13%, time on is 57s and I do not see any use details....

I'll start by saying thanks to the folks who made the instructions so easy to follow on the latest update/leak.

The only issue I've found is the phone will not charge fully, and usage seems pretty high. Yes I have the 50% bug and battery life was never "great" but now I'm concerned.
I was able to get a lot of use from the phone prior, with a desk charger and car charger, streaming music from my server, or Slacking or Pandora etc.
Tomorrow I'm taking a road trip (motorcycle,no charger) so I'll get to see how the charge holds with no apps running.

Ah- ha
So I took the phone off charge @ 7:45am, packed up and hit the road and by 10:30 it had shut down, no battery.
It used to work before 2.1v3 but of course it could be coincidence.

Just home now, and am pluggin her in.

I mean why wait? do it already and have twice the phone now?....and worried about not being able to get the OTA cuz you got the leak?/// well ive got all 3 leaks so why would i not be able to have a fourth???? just do it you wont regret it.

You may regret it. My wifes phone had an uptime today of 400+ hours. I dont remember making it past 100 hours up since doing any of the leaks. 1.5 is stable if nothing else.
