Help Youtube poor video quality

Video on my nexus 7 looks very pixelated and low res when streamed but when I play the same video when downloaded they look fine. Already uninstalled and installed updates on the YouTube app and it did not help. Anybody else have this problem? Thanks

How is your internet signal? Do you have Netflix? If so, how does the video quality compare. YouTube will automatically adjust the quality based on slower internet speeds. You tube has looked really good on my N7 so it should not be an app issue with the YouTube app itself.

With Netflix its pretty much the same. I have 20mbps on WiFi and also tested with at&t LTE and the results are pretty much the same. Also compared with original nexus 7 and looks the same. But when I look at YouTube videos on my PC on my 40 inch 1080 TV it looks stunning. What am I missing?

Hmmmm....don't really know what else it could be that is causing the issues. You running stock firmware? If so what is your build number? If you are not running stock firmware...the problem could be with your custom ROM.

Yes I'm running stock firmware. Right now I'm using WiFi at a hotel and the issue still persists so I can rule out my WiFi. I tried uninstalling the YouTube app update and it seemed to get a bit better.
