Root Z4 and Battery Life

I noticed today that my battery seemed to decline much more quickly than usual. When I checked what was using the battery, the third highest (after voice calls and display) was a process called "rageagainstthe" which was apparently related to Z4 Temp Root. It was at 24% of battery use, which seems really high.

Has anyone else experienced this? My phone went from 100% to 50% in about six hours with fairly light use for most of that time...

i only use Z4 when i am thethering, which makes the battery hotter, which makes the battery degrade faster. i am not farmiliar with that process and have not found my battery to run down faster while Z4 is passive (ie after i am done tethering)

I doubt z4 will cause any battery issues, imo

Well, at first the process was listed as "rageagainstthec" -- but when the list refreshed, the name updated to "com.z4mod.z4root"

This was a second time, when the phone crashed when I used Z4 for temporary root. When the phone rebooted -- Z4 was no longer in my App drawer. However, this process was listed under battery info - and it was listed at 34%.

So, for some reason Z4 Temproot is killing my battery -- as well as having other strange behavior.

Is it possible I have the wrong APK or something else is up?

The program itself also takes up 27mb of space -- which seems like a lot...

It looks like I'll have to wait until permanent root shows up if the temp root does this consistently...

If the phone reboots after trying to root with Z4 you need to let her reboot and then reboot again. If it doesnt successfully root then the next reboot it will have rageinthecage running once it boots up.

So then if I reboot again after rooting will rageinthecage not be running any more and therefore not affect my battery? That would be a nice easy fix...

Once the phone roots correctly z4 (rageinthecage) will no longer be running. Now that we have permanent root you should do it and never worry about it again.
