zenexp

I got it installed; I really like it!

I am having three problems;

1) My GMail isn't pushing out.

2) It has a voicemail notification asking for me to call *86 for a message and I can't clear it.

3) I can't get my actual voicemail on the phone. I left a test message and I got a text saying I got a voicemail and some gibberish.

Any suggestions? I did the update in the Zen updater already.

For #3...did you do the Sprint VVM update? Go to: your appsdrawer...then zen updater/extras/Sprint VVM. Download it and install. This may fix #2 as well. If you've already done this, do you have a voicemail icon in the drawer? Have you rebooted?

Thanks for that; it didn't fix #2 and I am still getting weird texts about voicemail, but my VM is showing up in my toolbar and VVM was able to play a test message.

Someone said BT doesn't work. Can anyone confirm?
How about Exchange Mail?

My BT works just fine in my '09 Toyota with factory NAV/JBL radio. Pairs automatically everytime I get i the car, in boud and out bound calls work as expected. The car already had my contacts in it from a prior phone.

Can't comment on Exchange.

Okay, I was able to fix the issues most except I keep on getting a text message from a "9016" whenever I get a voice mail saying "//Android: (Phone Number) has sent you a Sprint Voice Message. Call 408-970-0000 to listen." and then a random string of text.
Any ideas?

Did you flash the VVM update AND SET IT UP?

<- Using GV, so guessing here.

ok this is my first rom I have ever loaded, and it looks nice... one question so far is, can i delete the zip files I installed to my SD card now to save space?

i am currently running fresh toast 2.1. i'm loving it. i love to overclock (or underclock to conserve battery). are you able to do this on that rom? is gmail a problem with anyone? i'm tired of re-installing all my apps after a flash. i'm sure there's an easier alternative? thanks in advance

I'm the same way, running Fresh Toast 2.1 and love it.

I just rooted my wife's phone and had problems flashing any of Flip's 2.1 roms for some reason (I never had any problems with mine). I did get Zenexp to flash just fine.

the only thing I don't like is it's based on MyTouch, not sense so the settings are different and don't carry over if you use MyBackup Pro. When I updated mine, it imported all my settings including saved Scenes.

Overall she likes the ROM except we are having problems getting her virtual voicemail set up. We have been running errands all day, so I haven't had a chance to sit down and flash the update.

Which files? You are safe to delete the ROM zip.

Thanks, that is the ones I wanted to delete, the 2 zip files (rom and updated one)

I have held off on installing a rom (fresh) cause of all the threads with issues. this one is great, I have not had any issues or problems and the phone seems a lot faster too.

Finally got to finish setting up the wife's phone. She absolutely loves the latest ZenEXP rom! Got Virtual Voicemail working now, after I got the Zen Updater up to date. The updater is a much appreciated, and makes installing updates or rolling back EXTREMELY easy.

The only thing I've noticed that doesn't work is the stock Gmail app. Apparently it doesn't automatically sync very well. From what I read in that GIANT thread, you have to use the stock e-mail app.

Overall, I set her up without overclocking and one of the most noticeable improvements is in the responsiveness in phone operations itself. She got so excited when she hit the shortcut to call her friend and the dial tone sound came up immediately, rather than a 5+ second delay on her hero with stock 2.1.

I'm tempted to switch from Fresh Toast 2.1.1 to this rom. I guess flashing back is a cinch. maybe I'll give it a shot tomorrow.

Gmail works fine here with Zen.

Hmmm, my wife's wasn't. Tried a few sample e-mails and it wouldn't notify her or show that she had received e-mails. She had about 8 e-mails over 4 hours and non were alerted.

Switched her over to the stock e-mail client and set it to retrieve e-mails at 15 minute increments to make sure she isn't missing e-mail notifications.

Here's what it says in the summary of ZenEXP 0.9.6.2 here under bugs

Bugs:
Still needs the MMS fix applied after the first boot.
Gmail does not autosync consistently (Use the Htc Mail App)

Now that you mention it, I don't believe my gmail is auto-syncing. But I know that if I go to Menu/Refresh with gmail open, it will grab my mail.

Yes, hers does the same: it's essentially manual-sync. I get my work e-mail pushed to my gmail account, so I like to have it sync automatically. I also have found that it seems to use less battery than the stock e-mail app that polls every 10-15 minutes or so, just from my own experience.

330D - You try it yet?

Have it dloaded, I have had a crazy couple of days... very busy. So if I can stay up late enough tonight to wait for my phone to charge up enough to do some flashin' I will try it later on...
